Professional Photos - Important Information

The children will have their individual photos taken on Monday 14^th September during the school day.

Year 6 and their siblings need to arrive at 8am promptly on Monday 14^th for their photographs. They need to go to their classroom to drop their bags off. Year 5 and their siblings will start at 8.30am and they will need to go to the classroom when the bell has rung.

As Year 6 have PE on a Monday, please can they bring their PE kit in a bag to change into.

Please ensure that siblings are in attendance on Monday 14^th for both year 5 and 6 children so that they can have their sibling photos taken to avoid any disruptions to the lesson times for the older children. Please can parents stay with the siblings till the bell goes at 8.30am.

All children need to be wearing full winter uniform which is as follows;

Early years – white polo top and tracksuit bottoms or bermuda shorts, red socks

Year 1-6 girls must be wearing their school pinafore (year 6 girls can wear a skirt), red socks or tights and black shoes, red hair ties/clips

Year 1-6 boys must wear grey trousers or shorts, if wearing grey shorts please ensure the boys are wearing the long socks with the red hoops around the top

All children in Years 1-6 must wear a tie.

Cookery Club Reminder

Evolving our PTA

As we prepare for the next school year, we would like to thank you for your continued support of the PTA and the important role you play in helping to build our school community.

The BHS PTA has evolved enormously over recent years, and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved together. At the end of last term, we bid farewell to a number of longstanding team members but this term we are thrilled to welcome Angie Sahe-Lacheante to the Core team who is a parent in Years PK/2/4, as well as all of our new Class Reps:

The PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM)

This year, we are intending to hold only one in-person PTA meeting on Monday 21 Sept from 18.00-19.30pm in the dining hall, followed by a more informal opportunity to chat and share ideas at the Kew Gardens Hotel. This meeting is open to all parents who would like to find out more about the PTA activities in the year ahead. Please could each class make sure at least one Class Rep is in attendance as we will agree the calendar of events, review the budget and identify volunteers to support PTA activities throughout the year. Sub-meetings for event planning may be arranged on a more ad-hoc basis throughout the year with the relevant individuals.

Birthday Cupcakes

In celebration of our 150^th Anniversary, the PTA began funding cupcakes for the children to celebrate their birthdays with their class. This removed the need for parents to order and pay for cupcakes via the office. As this has been such a success, we are thrilled to share that this will be continued. Each class will have a nominated cupcake day in the week and all birthdays that fall in that week will be celebrated on that day. Cupcakes will arrive in the class with a list of the birthday children to be celebrated so that no one is missed out. Any birthdays that fall within school holidays will be celebrated in the week before holidays commence, and the schedule will be amended to account for any class trips. Cupcake days are as follows:

Tues – Rising 3s, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Wed – Year 1 and 2
Thurs – Year 3 and 4
Fri – Year 5 and 6

Your reps will share the cupcake schedule with you shortly.

The Introduction of an Annual PTA Contribution

The majority of funding for PTA events, activities and extras for our children each year comes from the pre-loved uniform sales and the auction. Instead of collecting additional money throughout the year for ticketed events, the PTA would like to introduce an annual contribution from each family at the beginning of the school year (£60 per child). This also replaces the class fund contribution previously made through the class reps for gifts etc.

This one-off contribution will allow event organisers to work with a set budget, lock in suppliers early to achieve the best rates, and remove the need for multiple payment requests and ticket sales for individual events.

Along with proceeds from the pre-loved uniform sales and the auction, the PTA contribution will be used to fund:

Summer Fair ( to be held offsite after the success of the 2025 event!)
Halloween Disco
Senior School Disco
Ice creams on the last day of each term
Chocolate eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt
Christmas gift for each child, delivered by Santa
Cupcakes to celebrate birthdays
New joiner bears
Year 6 Yearbooks
Christmas presents for teachers and TAs
End-of-year presents for teachers and TAs
Leavers gifts

Any events organised for parents would be paid for separately on an attendance-only basis (e.g. Wreath Making and the Christmas Party).

First Day Back

Year 1 - First Week Back

This week in our classroom, the focus has been on getting to know your children. We have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them, learning about their interests and beginning to understand their passions. Thank you to those of you who sent in summer photographs, your adventures looked amazing! The children have enjoyed sharing these, developing their confidence of speaking in front of others. Next week we begin formal lessons and the children will be introduced to their first topics of the year: Humans, Past & Present, Our Local Area and baseline RWI assessments will start.

Run Club is Back

Well done to all our Run Clubbers who ran this morning dispite the misty rain. And a special mention to Max (Y3) who took part in his first Run Club and ran with Wave 1 – super work everyone. We enjoyed a well earned breakfast and had a chat with Chef John.
