Due to the postponement of Sports Day, our last swim will now take place on Tuesday 30 June. There will be no swimming on Tuesday 7 July.
Due to Sports Day taking place on Tuesday 7 July, there will be no Games sessions that week. This means Year 4, 5 & 6 will not have Games on Wednesday 8 July and should be collected at 3:30pm. There will also be no Games for YEar 2 and 3 on Thursday 9 July.
On Monday 6 July our young karate kids will take part in their karate grading. Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Year 1 have practised all year and are looking forward to receiving their certificates and badges. Parents are welcome to attend via the main reception gate on Broomfield Road.
12:30-1pm: Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Grading
1-1:30pm: Year 1 Grading
We warmly welcome all Year 1 and Year 2 parents to join us for one of the highlights of the school year: our annual Key Stage One Poetry Recital. This much-loved Broomfield tradition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate every child’s confidence, creativity and achievement. The recital will begin promptly at 9:00am and will last for approximately one hour. Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time and is dressed in their full school uniform. This will give the children time to settle into the morning and help calm any pre-performance nerves. Over the coming days, we encourage you to support your child by listening to them recite their poem at home, paying particular attention to pace, expression and tone. Your encouragement and practice will help them feel confident and prepared for the recital. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing what promises to be a fantastic event, providing a fitting celebration to end another highly successful year.
Thank you so much for all your support with costume preparation and helping your children learn their lines, it’s so appreciated. We’re incredibly excited to share the final performance of Aladdin with you next week. Please see plan attached to the bottom of this email. As previously mentioned, the Senior Musical is a special swansong for our Year 6 children, marking the culmination of their 8 years at school. To reflect this, Year 6 families may book up to four tickets total, with a maximum of two tickets per performance. Year 5 families are allocated two tickets, which can be used either for one performance or split between both performances. The ticket booking deadline is Tuesday 30th of June at 2:00pm. This allows us time to review capacity and offer any remaining tickets to Year 4 families. It also helps us provide accurate numbers to the catering team for interval canapés and refreshments.
A few important reminders:
Plan Ahead
Technical Rehearsal Day – Monday 29th June
Dress Rehearsal – Wednesday 1st July (9:00 – 10:20am)
Evening Performance – Thursday 2nd July (6:00 – 8.00pm)
Arrival times:

A reminder that the Year 6 children will have a BBQ in school on Tuesday 7 July. Mr Anstey and Mrs Wrigley-Smith have planned a fun evening. The children can come directly from their class at the end of the day (so parents don’t need to come at 3:30pm). The children can be collected at 5pm from the Princes Road gate.
The Year 6 children will have their Awards Morning on Thursday 9 July. The event will start at 9am and run until 10:20am. Parent should enter via the Princes Road gate at 8:55am and take their seats on the bottom patch.
On Monday 29th June, we will be hosting two informal Meet the Teacher coffee mornings. These sessions are designed to give parents and carers a warm and relaxed opportunity to get to know your child’s new teaching team ahead of the new school year. We understand how important it is to feel comfortable and confident, and these mornings are a great way to begin building those positive connections.
During the sessions, you will have the chance to meet the teachers and support staff who will be working with your child, learn a little about classroom routines and expectations, and share any helpful information you feel is important.
8:30 – 9am, Monday 29th June: KS2: Year 3 – Year 6 (Pond Patch)
The excitement is building! With the track painted and heats run, we’re all set for our annual Sports Day on Tuesday, July 7, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The weather forecast looks good, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic day of competition and fun at Old Deer Park.
Here’s some important information to help you and your child prepare:
What Your Child Needs
Your child will be bringing home their House T-shirt on Monday. Please ensure they wear this to school on Wednesday, along with the rest of their sports kit. Don’t forget their red sports cap and a water bottle. If it’s warm and sunny, please apply plenty of sun cream before school. Children should arrive at school on Wednesday morning at the normal time.
Joining Us at Old Deer Park
Sports Day events kick off promptly at 9:30am at Old Deer Park. Parents are very welcome to join us and can take seats in the stand upon arrival.
Please note: There is no parking available at the venue. We strongly encourage you to walk or use public transport if possible. If you need to drive, please park in the neighbouring roads, being mindful of local parking restrictions.
Event Schedule & Spectator Information
The children will walk to Old Deer Park with their classes, arriving around 9:15 AM, ready for the field events to begin at 9:30 AM. Once the children are in position, spectators will be invited down from the stand to watch from the marked viewing areas on the field. For everyone’s safety and to ensure clear viewing, please remain within the parent viewing areas at all times and avoid crossing any boundary lines during events.
After the field events conclude, the track events will take place. Spectators will then be asked to return to their seats in the stand overlooking the track. We expect the track events to finish around 12:30 PM, followed by the presentation of the Winners Shield once all points and results have been tallied.
After Sports Day
Once Sports Day concludes, the children will walk back to school for lunch and their afternoon lessons.
Important Note on Afternoon Games:
Refreshments
The members’ bar at Old Deer Park will be open throughout the day, and parents are welcome to purchase drinks, including tea and coffee. We kindly request that no alcohol is consumed during Sports Day events.
We are incredibly excited to welcome you to this fantastic event and hope your children have a memorable day filled with wonderful Broomfield memories!
We have completed another fantastic term of Run Club. The children have shown great determination each week, pushing themselves and embracing the benefits of this active club.
To celebrate their efforts, our final Run Club of the term (Friday, 3 July) will finish with a special visit to Gail’s Coffee Shop in Kew Village. Parents are warmly invited to join us at the finish line at around 8:15am to celebrate.
We are so excited to welcome all families to Broomfield’s Big Birthday Bash tomorrow – we cannot wait to celebrate this milestone with you all!
Please find attached:
On the day, there will be a 150 message board that parents are welcome to sign. Please look out for it!
We would like to extend a huge thank you to our sponsors, whose generous support has made this a free event for all families.

Our class plants have certainly been feeling the heat this week! The children have done a wonderful job checking for droopy leaves, dry soil and signs that our green friends needed a drink. They made sure every class plant stayed happy and hydrated. It has been brilliant to see the children take on their plant-care duties and help them thrive during the sunny weather.
Also, a reminder that the ‘Time Capsule Ideas Box’ is in the atrium. The pupil council will soon be voting for their favourite suggestions, so be sure to enter your ideas as soon as possible!

As part of our topic on energy, Year 2 pretended to be miners looking for fossil fuels. The cookie was their land and the chocolate chips were the fossil fuels, e.g. chunks of coal or pockets of oil or natural gas. Using our ‘tools’, we carefully dug out (or mined) the fossil fuels and discussed what their mining area looked like at the end of the activity. Children were encouraged to link it to a real-world scenario, for example: How did their ‘mining’ affect the ‘environment’? Did they extract all their fossil fuels? What if there were no more fossil fuels to extract? After holding themselves back for the duration of the experiment, our miners were finally allowed to eat their cookies!
At the end of our topic this week, we looked at alternative sources of energy and made our own windmobiles, which we will be racing down the top patch next week on a (hopefully) windy day!!
Netball Club had a surprise visit this week from Broomfield alumna Megan Hughes, who was part of Broomfield’s 2023 ISA Netball National Schools Bowl-winning team. It was fantastic to welcome her back!
This term and last term, every child in the school contributed to a large collage celebrating the 150th anniversary of Broomfield House School. Different year groups worked on a variety of subjects, ranging from animals and plants to buildings in Kew Village and Kew Gardens.
The children in Year 6 studied still life drawing, with a particular emphasis on shading. They developed their observational skills while focusing on accurate proportions and a range of grey tones. For the background, they created coloured compositions, which provided a striking contrast to their detailed still life studies. The result was a collection of eye-catching and carefully observed artworks.
