We are looking forward to the summer holidays. Please note that the office and school will be closed over the summer. We will send a welcome back email in the week before autumn term starts with information for the term ahead. Also attached to this newsletter email is the Autumn Term Diary Dates.
See you all in September.
If you have purchased the school magazine will be placed in your child’s bag on the first day of the autumn term.
What an incredible response to our very first BHS 150 Challenge! A huge, heartfelt thank you to all 45 children who took part – you have been truly inspiring, and we hope you are proud of everything you achieved.
All participants received their pin badge at the last assembly of the year – a small token to mark what has been a wonderful contribution to our 150th anniversary celebrations.
We are absolutely thrilled to share that together you raised a grand total of £2,046 – a remarkable achievement!
As promised, 50% of all sponsorship has been shared between our house charities and the Saved Souls Foundation in northern Thailand:
The remaining 50% will go to the PTA to support whole-school events and activities.
Thank you once again to every child, family and friend who sponsored, cheered, cycled, baked, read, litter-picked, sailed, danced and so much more. You have made this a truly memorable part of Broomfield’s 150th year.

Congratulations to all our recipients of the Headmasters Award for Summer 2. The children enjoyed an afternoon tea with Mr Anstey on the last day of term. Well Done to Evie (Y6), Rita (Y5), Kanato (Y4), Kade (Y3), Ilyan (Y2), Georgina (Y1), Aliya (K), Charlotta (PK & R3).
For the last Eco Club of the term, the eco members completed a scavenger hunt – searching for spring flowers to sketch and bugs to record. They also set out designing the final Eco Club notice board – drawing an eco tree filled with bugs and bees and little messages on how you can help the environment from having a plastic free July to taking some time and enjoy the wonders around you and may more ideas.
Broomfield received a very exciting birthday present from the PTA in the form of a Time Capsule! After gathering ideas from across the school, the Pupil Council voted for their favourite suggestions, and in final assembly we had the exciting task of placing the chosen items into the capsule ready for burying!
The items included a Broomfield hat and tie, a 2026 coin and postage stamp, and a copy of ‘The Week Junior’ magazine (with the wonderful David Attenborough on the cover). We added a copy of an acrostic poem written by the children to describe Broomfield’s school values. The Year 6 children each wrote a letter to future generations of Broomfield pupils, explaining what life is like at Broomfield in 2026, including what lessons we have, how we get to school and what computer games, music artists and films we enjoy (Super Mario!). They raised some very good questions, such as ‘do you still have AI in the future!?’.
Who knows what the school, and indeed the world will look like in another 150 years! A huge thank you to the PTA and Dr Khan for their generosity and efforts in putting this gift together.
As we look back on a busy and productive year in the Art Department, it never seems possible to showcase all the wonderful artwork the children create. In particular, many of the pieces produced during the final half term often end up safely stored in art folders without ever being displayed. I hope you enjoy this collection of some of the school’s latest artwork.
