Please note that Years 2 – 6 will start tag rugby in their games sessions from next week (wc: 03.02.2025). Please ensure that the children have studded footwear as it is going to be muddy.
Let’s talk about children and their smartphones.
Year 4 are travelling to Hampton Court Palace for an adventure in history as they are studying the Tudors. The trip is taking place on Thursday 6th February and it is an all-day trip. They will travel by coach and will leave and return during the school day. Chef Nay will prepare a packed lunch, but they will need their water bottles in a hands-free bag (the sports bag works well). Children must be in full school uniform and grey winter coats, however they can wear their Broomfield beanies as it will be cold. Time permitting, the children will visit the gift shop and can bring a maximum of £10 spending money.
Year 3 are looking forward to their trip to The Natural History Museum on Friday 7th February. They will leave school at 9am. The children will be provided with a packed lunch and should wear their full uniform and bring their swimming bag to carry their packed lunch and their own personal water bottles.
YEAR 1 TRIP TO RED BEARD FOREST SCHOOL
Year 1 are excited for their upcoming trip to the amazing Red Beard Forest School at Syon Park on Friday 7th February. The children will depart school at 9am and will return at approximately 12pm. The children should wear their Broomfield sports kit and they can wear trainers, wellies or boots depending on the weather. Please ensure they wrap up warm with plenty of layers as they will be outside for the entire session. Chef Nay will prepare snacks and the class will be back at school in time for a warm lunch. They will be exploring winter in the great outdoors, woodland crafts and building a campfire.

At our last meeting the PTA core team and Class Reps came together to start planning this year’s Summer Fair which will have a festival flavour to it! This is the main event in our PTA calendar where we raise money to help fund the magical extras the PTA provide for our children.
We would love volunteers who can help execute our 2025 Summer Fair plan – please reach out to Dale Filipek (PTA Chair) or Sara Khan/Kate Dossa (PTA core team).
Kindergarten had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Lunar New Year on Wednesday. Parents visited the children in the classroom and ran a carousel of brilliant activities. The children designed paper plate dragons, carefully coloured in snake pictures, created balloon snakes and played drums and danced. A huge thank you to all the parents who organised activities and contributed to a wonderful celebration!
During Wednesday’s assembly, we surprised Mr Anstey with a special birthday celebration! The whole school, from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6, along with staff, came together to congratulate him.
At Eco Club this week, we explored the importance of wetlands in nature. With World Wetlands Day approaching on 2nd February, we discussed why these ecosystems are vital – from providing essential habitats for wildlife to helping prevent flooding and storing carbon.
The children shared their experiences of visiting the Wetland Centre in Barnes, recalling sightings of birds, otters, and other wildlife. Inspired by our discussion, they chose a wetland mammal, reptile, bird, or amphibian to draw, along with a few facts about their chosen species.
To celebrate World Wetlands Day, families can apply for one free ticket to a wetland centre between 27th January and 2nd February here.

Happy New Year from all of us at Broomfield!
On Monday we kicked off the spring term with the Dukes Education Conference at Wembley. We are delighted to share that our Headmaster, Adam Anstey, and the school were honoured with the Wellbeing Initiative Award in recognition of the effective efforts to promote wellbeing among both children and staff.
This award is a true testament to what is one of the cornerstones of our philosophy and work at Broomfield.
With the theme “The Heart of Education” the conference provided a fantastic opportunity for professional development. Thought-provoking discussions explored the impact of AI, the future of education, and the critical importance of character development in shaping the young leaders of tomorrow.
