FOREST SCHOOL VISITING YEAR 3
Year 3 are looking forward to welcoming the amazing Forest School to Broomfield for their next session with Scott on Friday 21st March. They will continue their outdoor learning experience with lots of interesting games and lessons. Please make sure the children have their jackets, hats and scarfs in case it is a cold day.
We are excited that the Spring Musicals are just around the corner. Thank you so much for helping your child practise at home and for getting the children ready for their performances on the evening of Thursday 20th March. As always, we request that wherever possible, parents of both classes stay for the whole evening, so the children all enjoy a full audience. Siblings will have watched the dress rehearsal the day before so should not need to attend the evening performance. For our families currently observing Ramadan, we understand that your timings might be affected by the breaking of your fast in the evening. The Year 3 play will be first, followed by an interval at around 6:45 – 7.00PM were we will serve some refreshments. If you need to leave or arrive during the interval, please let the office know so we can make sure your child is ready for dismissal during the interval or that we have someone at the gate to let you in for the second show. Please find the plan below.
Timeline:
Wednesday 19th March: 9am: Dress Rehearsal in front of the whole school. Please ensure the children bring their costumes into school for the dress rehearsal.
Thursday, March 20th:

Please note that we are limited to 2 adult tickets per family. All siblings will have viewed the dress rehearsal the day before with the whole school and therefore should not need to attend. If you require any help in relation to this please contact the office if you have not already done so.

We are thrilled to celebrate an outstanding set of results, with a wide range of senior school offers and an exceptional number of scholarships. As always, our top priority is to ensure that each child finds the senior school that best supports their growth, happiness, and academic journey.
We are particularly proud that our Year 6 predictions for 11+ offers achieved an impressive 97% accuracy, reflecting our deep understanding of each pupil’s potential and aspirations.
We are renowned for our thorough and considered approach to preparing children for selective senior school entrance examinations, ensuring they feel confident to succeed. These exceptional results are a testament to the dedication of our pupils, teachers, and families, and we could not be more proud.
Thank you to all the teachers who have helped prepare the children for this important transition over the years. A special thanks to the Year 6 team (Miss Curran, Mrs. Ketel, and Mr. Kennedy) for their exceptional support and dedication.
We are proud to announce that Broomfield House School has once again been included in the Spear’s Magazine Schools Indices this year. The indices have been compiled by Spear’s in collaboration with their expert partners at Thuso and a panel of independent educationalists from around the world.
For the second consecutive year, our outstanding educational provision has been recognised in this prestigious guide, featured alongside St Paul’s Juniors, Dulwich Prep London, and Westminster Under School.
Exciting news in Year 1 – the duckling eggs have arrived, and they started to hatch one by one this week. The children are absolutely captivated, watching in awe as new life emerges right before their eyes. What a magical experience for everyone!
Lenny in Year 6 and Frankie in Year 4 competed in the National Cross Country Finals. The course was extremely challenging with steep, narrow passages and wet, muddy ground in places. Some children lost their shoes in the mud! There were no flat sections or straight paths, which only added to the difficulty. Despite these obstacles, Frankie and Lenny did exceptionally well. Frankie ran 1500m in 6:41, coming 15th overall and 4th for the region. Lenny ran 1900m in 7:53, finishing 27th overall and 3rd for the region.
Both had qualified in 6th place for the region, so they improved significantly within the London West team, contributing to the region’s overall win. Throughout the race, they cheered each other on, showing incredible teamwork and resilience. It was an exhausting and tough challenge, but both Frankie and Lenny embraced it. Frankie also met with Alex Bell (pictured) Alex is an 800m Olympic finalist, was the first British women to break 2 minutes for the 800m female race and is the UK road mile record holder. Well done Frankie and Lenny!
Congratulations to all Broomfield children who took part in the 14th edition of the FSK Cup last weekend. There were many children who won medals but a special mention to Rita Nahal who won the cup!
Year 1 had a wet and wonderful time at the Science Museum on Wednesday. The children enjoyed a water, sound and mechanics workshop in ‘The Garden’ and then enjoyed exploring the museum’s ‘Pattern Pod’ and ‘Who am I?’ exhibits. The children drew on their maths lesson on ‘money’ and brought their learning to life at the gift shop. They used their number bonds to 10 to work out what they could purchase and how much change they would get! They were brilliant ambassadors of Broomfield and really gave Carol Vordaman a run for her money with their super speedy sums. Although we had a blast, we could not wait to get back to our 5 little ducklings and show them our epic souvenirs. A ‘quack-tacular’ week in Year 1.
On Monday, Year 2 joined the marine crew as they dived down on an adventure, thousands of metres below the waves on their trip to the National History Museum. The children also enjoyed discovering the vital role sharks play in the ocean’s food chains.
Music Matters
Congratulations to Joy (Y3) for participating in the Richmond Performing Arts Festival recently. She received a Bronze Award for her excellent piano performance. Joy was also the youngest competitor in her category. She performed Trantella Twist by Proudler and Always with Me by Kimura and Kaku. Well done, Joy!
Exam results
We’ve also received some ABRSM piano exam results this week. Sophie (Y3) was awarded a Distinction for her recent Grade 1 piano exam. Sophie performed one of her pieces in assembly on Wednesday and we are so pleased that she was awarded this Distinction for her continuous hard work and effort. Well done, Sophie.
The Year 6 had a wonderful trip to the Houses of Parliament on Monday which included an exciting workshop and a historical tour of the Palace. We were able to spend time inside the House of Lords and the House of Commons and find out all about the significance of the architecture and artefacts in the building. Many of the children were able to recognise statues of famous Prime Ministers and Kings and Queens that they have studied in their history lessons and were shown the plaques made in commemoration of Elizabeth II where she lay in state. They were delighted to find out that when the Great Hall was being refurbished, one of Henry VIII’s tennis balls fell out of the rafters where it had got stuck so many years ago during his reign!

Happy New Year from all of us at Broomfield!
On Monday we kicked off the spring term with the Dukes Education Conference at Wembley. We are delighted to share that our Headmaster, Adam Anstey, and the school were honoured with the Wellbeing Initiative Award in recognition of the effective efforts to promote wellbeing among both children and staff.
This award is a true testament to what is one of the cornerstones of our philosophy and work at Broomfield.
With the theme “The Heart of Education” the conference provided a fantastic opportunity for professional development. Thought-provoking discussions explored the impact of AI, the future of education, and the critical importance of character development in shaping the young leaders of tomorrow.
