JUNIOR SPORTS DAY
Our Junior Sports Day for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and Year 1 will be held at school on Friday 14th June, from 9:30am to 10:30am. We will open the main gate on Princes Road just before 9.30am. The purpose of Junior Sports Day is to provide an opportunity for our youngest children to participate in a variety of physical activities and have fun. Year 1 children should wear their sports kit and all children must bring a water bottle. We kindly request that all parents stay for the whole event so that the children in all classes experience a full audience. Many thanks for your support.
ZOOLAB VISITING KINDERGARTEN
Our Kindergarten children are very excited for their visit from the lovely team at Zoolab on Wednesday 12th June. The children will get to see and hold several types of creatures as they experience an African Adventure. A wonderful experience for all.
Our next PTA meeting will be on Monday next week. The main focus will be on the upcoming Summer Fair. Your attendance and input are highly valued.
We are thrilled to launch our new Eco Trail to mark World Environment Day. Join us for a fun and educational adventure through Kew, where you will discover amazing places that help the environment.
Special Bonus: Children can win their very own Koala soft toy!
Bring your family, enjoy the walk, and start important conversations about how we can all contribute to a greener future. Let’s make a positive impact together!
Date: Maps will be available to pick up from our local partners Caffe Torelli, Halletts Estate Agents Kew Village and Broomfield House School from Friday 14th June.
Location: Kew Village
We can’t wait!
The UK Maths Trust (UKMT) organises and runs maths competitions. We have never entered these competitions as the starter challenge is the Junior Maths Competition (JMC), a test for Year 8 children and below. But this year we decided to have a go and entered Year 6 children into the JMC. Imagine our delight when a good number of children won certificates to mark their performance – Austin and Ava receiving gold awards, with silver for Bethan, Leila, Rohan and Nina, and bronze for James, Ben, Millie, Charlotte, Tara, Lara and Sam. Also, because of their high level of achievement, both Austin and Ava have been invited into the next level competition, the Junior Kangaroo, which is by invitation only! We await to see how they do.
Our Year 5 team continue their preparations for the national Cicero Cup debating final due to take place at the Houses of Parliament on 21 June. They have recently received amazing help from the Year 6 team who blazed their own way to the final last year. In school assemblies either side of the half-term break, Year 5 and 6 teams squared off in competitive debate in front of an enthusiastic audience of Years 2-6. The most recent of these was this week on Wednesday, when Year 6 proposed a debate on introducing a curfew for under-16s. The quality of discussion was high and audience engagement showed with the number of questions they too put forward. The proposition was ultimately defeated but Year 5 participants asked us to thank their elder colleagues for this wonderfully challenging practice ahead of their forthcoming big day.
This week, the children talked about sustainability and what that meant in Eco Club. The club divided their time between making posters and pledges, and some of them took their work into the playground and asked what pledges other students and teachers would make.
On Monday this week, a team of Y5 and 6 girls went to the home of premiership rugby club Harlequins, to play in a tag rugby tournament.
The tournament was without winners or losers with the focus being on getting girls into rugby.
It was a fantastic morning of tag rugby with the girls displaying some excellent skills. All the girls had a great time and felt incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to play in a premiership rugby stadium!

Happy New Year from all of us at Broomfield!
On Monday we kicked off the spring term with the Dukes Education Conference at Wembley. We are delighted to share that our Headmaster, Adam Anstey, and the school were honoured with the Wellbeing Initiative Award in recognition of the effective efforts to promote wellbeing among both children and staff.
This award is a true testament to what is one of the cornerstones of our philosophy and work at Broomfield.
With the theme “The Heart of Education” the conference provided a fantastic opportunity for professional development. Thought-provoking discussions explored the impact of AI, the future of education, and the critical importance of character development in shaping the young leaders of tomorrow.

On Tuesday last week, children from Years 2 - 6 gathered at St. Anne’s Church to kick off the festive season with our annual Christmas Carol Service. Each year group contributed beautifully, and we felt immense pride listening to their lovely singing and instrument playing. An extra ‘well done’ to Year 6 who read the nine lessons brilliantly, telling us the story of the birth of Jesus. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful occasion.

Thanks to all Broomfield families for your generous donations to our local food bank. We also continued our tradition of our harvest boxes, which were delivered by our Year 6 children, staff and parent volunteers to the elderly in our local area. It was a heartwarming event, reminding us of the value of kindness and generosity during this season of harvest.
