Since the beginning of the academic year, we have had many Broomfield children taking their music exams. This is just a reminder to parents to please email Miss Fourie directly if your child has either done a music exam externally or with a Broomfield music teacher. (September 2025 and June 2026). We are so proud of the children and we would like to celebrate these achievements in the end of year Broomfield Magazine.
Please include in the email to Miss Fourie, the child’s name, the instrument, grade and the result. Please may we ask this information to be emailed by Tuesday 9th June 2026. email: ifourie@broomfieldhouse.com
As part of Broomfield House School’s 150th year, Mr Anstey will take on the challenge of running an extraordinary 100km (and a bit) across London on Friday 19th June, visiting Dukes Education schools along the route to raise funds for the Dukes Foundation Transformational Bursary Campaign.
Inspired by the brilliant children at Broomfield and across the wider Dukes family, and by the kindness, courage and community spirit they show so often, Mr Anstey felt it was important to have “skin in the game” and personally take on a challenge in support of a cause that creates opportunity for young people who need it most.
This is not about speed, records, or personal glory, all of these things are unlikely.
Instead, it is about using a difficult physical challenge to help shine a light on something far more important – widening access to transformational education and supporting children to flourish.
100km across London will require resilience, preparation, endurance and determination, qualities we speak about often with children at Broomfield, and values that sit at the heart of the Dukes Foundation’s work.
1 day. 1 city. 2 legs. 100km (and a bit).

We are delighted to share the details of our upcoming BHS 150th Anniversary Gala Dinner, along with the ticket purchase link for parents below.
This promises to be a truly spectacular way to mark the end of the academic year as we come together to celebrate 150 wonderful years of Broomfield House School.
Your ticket includes a sparkling welcome with bubbles and canapés at the stunning Hampton Court House. The evening will continue with a delicious three-course meal accompanied by wine, followed by a two-hour bar. Throughout the night, you will enjoy fantastic entertainment, culminating in a live band guaranteed to have you dancing into the evening.
The evening will also support the Dukes Foundation, a charity established to widen educational opportunity for young people. Through bursaries, mentoring and access programmes, the Foundation works to ensure that talented young people can benefit from life-changing educational experiences, regardless of their background or circumstances. Importantly, every pound raised through the Gala will be matched by Dukes Education, doubling the impact of the evening and helping to create even more opportunities for children who may otherwise never have access to them.

One of the wonderful suggestions in the Pupil Ideas box was to have some hula-hoops to play with during morning breaktime. Whilst the sun was hiding from us this week, the hula-hoops very much brightened up everyone’s morning on Wednesday breaktime. The children showed off some serious skills on the Top Patch, with some keeping hoops spinning for an impressively long time! The pupil council decided on some sensible rules to make sure that everyone had a great time. The children took turns, played together, and had lots of fun learning new tricks.
A fantastic well done to Fleur (Y3) who has been working so hard on her BHS 150 Challenge over the last month or so. She set herself a goal to make 150 tiny origami wishing stars for the Mondo Foundation, aiming to raise £150, which she has successfully achieved. She has now decided to continue fundraising for two other charities that mean a lot to her — Mayhew Animal Rescue and Cancer Research. Fleur has already raised an amazing £600, and the remaining amount raised will be split between the two charities. Well done Fleur.
Well done to Sarita, Fleur and Jazu who are performing summer concerts in the Pond Patch at Lunch time. The concerts are for anyone who would like to come and see the girls perform some amazing dances. Other children can also take part if they would like to make up a dance with the girls. Well done girls, a creative and inspirational idea.
Something rather exciting happened on Sunday; Frankie was awarded a trophy from Middlesex County ASA.
Frankie has won the Dave Barnes Memorial Trophy – awarded to the girl in the 10-year age group, achieving the highest number of GB points in any one individual event at the County Swimming Championships.
Although Frankie does not want everyone to think she is ‘only good at sport’, she is immensely proud of this achievement and is very happy to share this with you all. Her coaches at Teddington swimming club are also, understandably, extremely proud and have said they are very happy for the attached photo to be shared too.
To (as briefly as possible) explain the points:
For each individual event, in all the different strokes and distances, every competitor receives a number of points. Frankie scored 296 points for her 200m breaststroke, which was the highest score of all the different races across the whole county in her age group.
Well done Frankie.
In Science, Year 5 are learning about chemical reactions, so they created carbon dioxide by combining bicarbonate of soda with white vinegar. As the resulting CO2 gas is heavier than air, it can be poured down and used to extinguish the candle, because it displaces the oxygen which is fuelling the flame.
The Year 3 children created eye-catching monsters and placed them within a cityscape. Through this project, they learnt how to create depth in a composition by including a foreground, middle ground and background. They also developed their coloured pencil skills, using them to add detail and texture to their artwork.
