Due to the Sports Day, there will be no swimming tomorrow, Tuesday 7 July.
Due to Sports Day taking place tomorrow, Tuesday 7 July, there will be no Games sessions that week. This means Year 4, 5 & 6 will not have Games on Wednesday 8 July and should be collected at 3:30pm. There will also be no Games for Year 2 and 3 on Thursday 9 July.
As we face into another week of hot weather, we will be making some adjustments to the daily routine as we did last week.
Break time: This will go ahead, utilising the gazebos and the shaded pond area. We will monitor the temperature and send children inside if it is too hot. Children will be kept out of direct sunlight and will not exert themselves. Extra sun factor will be provided in the playground. Air-conditioned rooms will be available for any children that would like to use them.
Lunch time: We will do our “wet play procedures” with children inside in air-conditioned rooms doing light activities. Lunches have been adapted and children will eat lunch in the comfort of their classrooms. Thursday’s lunch will be an end of year picnic with sandwiches, salad, crisps, juice box and freeze pops for all to enjoy. The picnic will be in each classroom.
Y4,5,6 will not have games on Wednesday, and Year 2 & 3 will not have games on Thursday, due to Sports Day.
Staff will ensure children sip water throughout the day with regular hydration breaks in lessons. They will also keep an eye on children who may feel dizzy or not themselves.
PE kit can be worn for the week if your child feels more comfortable in this. Summer uniform can also be worn.
The excitement is building! With the track painted and heats run, we’re all set for our annual Sports Day tomorrow, Tuesday, July 7, from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The weather forecast looks good, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic day of competition and fun at Old Deer Park.
Here’s some important information to help you and your child prepare:
What Your Child Needs
Your child will have brought home their House T-shirt today. Please ensure they wear this to school tomorrow, along with the rest of their sports kit. Don’t forget their red sports cap and a water bottle. Please apply plenty of sun cream before school. Children should arrive at school on Tuesday morning at the normal time.
Joining Us at Old Deer Park
Sports Day events kick off promptly at 9:30am at Old Deer Park. Parents are very welcome to join us and can take seats in the stand upon arrival.
Please note: There is no parking available at the venue. We strongly encourage you to walk or use public transport if possible. If you need to drive, please park in the neighbouring roads, being mindful of local parking restrictions.
Event Schedule & Spectator Information
The children will walk to Old Deer Park with their classes, arriving around 9:15 AM, ready for the field events to begin at 9:30 AM. Once the children are in position, spectators will be invited down from the stand to watch from the marked viewing areas on the field. For everyone’s safety and to ensure clear viewing, please remain within the parent viewing areas at all times and avoid crossing any boundary lines during events.
After the field events conclude, the track events will take place. Spectators will then be asked to return to their seats in the stand overlooking the track. We expect the track events to finish around 12:30 PM, followed by the presentation of the Winners Shield once all points and results have been tallied.
After Sports Day
Once Sports Day concludes, the children will walk back to school for lunch and their afternoon lessons.
Important Note on Afternoon Games:
Refreshments
The members’ bar at Old Deer Park will be open throughout the day, and parents are welcome to purchase drinks, including tea and coffee. We kindly request that no alcohol is consumed during Sports Day events.
We are incredibly excited to welcome you to this fantastic event and hope your children have a memorable day filled with wonderful Broomfield memories!
A reminder that the Year 6 children will have a BBQ in school tomorrow, Tuesday 7 July. Mr Anstey and Mrs Wrigley-Smith have planned a fun evening. The children can come directly from their class at the end of the day (so parents don’t need to come at 3:30pm). The children can be collected at 5pm from the Princes Road gate.
The Year 6 children will have their Awards Morning on Thursday 9 July. The event will start at 9am and run until 10:20am. Parent should enter via the Princes Road gate at 8:55am and take their seats on the bottom patch.
Please can all the children wear their full summer uniform with their boater hats for girls and red school caps for the boys. I encourage all the children to look smart and tidy for the Awards Ceremony as this is a very special event at Broomfield House School. The children can change into their PE kit afterwards if they would like to.
We warmly welcome all Year 1 and Year 2 parents to join us for one of the highlights of the school year: our annual Key Stage One Poetry Recital. This much-loved Broomfield tradition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate every child’s confidence, creativity and achievement. The recital will begin promptly at 9:00am and will last for approximately one hour. Please ensure that your child arrives at school on time and is dressed in their full school uniform. This will give the children time to settle into the morning and help calm any pre-performance nerves. Over the coming days, we encourage you to support your child by listening to them recite their poem at home, paying particular attention to pace, expression and tone. Your encouragement and practice will help them feel confident and prepared for the recital. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing what promises to be a fantastic event, providing a fitting celebration to end another highly successful year.
Children can bring their PE Kit to change into after the Poetry Recital if they feel more comfortable.
The countdown is on! Ultimate Activity Camps are returning soon, offering an exciting range of activities for children aged 4–11. It’s the perfect place for kids to stay active, try new things, build confidence, and make new friends during the holidays.
🎮 Ultimate Tech is also running this summer, with exciting technology-focused activities for children 8 – 11 who love gaming, coding, and tech.

👋 Farewell to Mr Anstey
Please join us at the bottom patch at drop-off (8.30am) to give Mr Anstey a proper send-off!
☕ PTA Coffee Morning
All parents are welcome to join us for a coffee on the last day of term. We will be thanking our outgoing 2025-6 Class Reps and welcoming the incoming team for next year.
🍦 Ice Cream Van
As is tradition, the PTA have arranged for an ice cream van on the last day – children will receive an ice cream or lolly in place of their mid-morning snack.
🕛 Pick-up & Lunch
Pick-up is at midday and children will not be given lunch at school.
🌿 After School – Kew Green & The Greyhound
As always, families are welcome to arrange the traditional Kew Gardens picnic – but this year there is a brilliant alternative on offer too!
The Greyhound on Kew Green has agreed to put on a special deal for BHS families, with a kids’ meal deal at £10, bottles of Minuty (£40) and Chapel Down Brut (£60), and all drinks available for takeaway on the green. There may also be a lovely surprise in store for any leavers! 🎉 If your year group would like to book the area at the back of the pub, please contact The Greyhound team directly.
Kew Green has plenty of shady spots, the Westerly Ware playground nearby, and ball games and dogs are welcome too. It promises to be a lovely end-of-term atmosphere!
If you do prefer the Kew Gardens option, please be mindful of families with siblings in other year groups and those without membership passes.
Year 5&6 are confirmed to be at Kew Green- we would love other classes to join us- grab a picnic or order from the Greyhound!
The sun was shining and spirits were high at Rosslyn Park last Saturday, where families gathered to celebrate Broomfield’s 150th birthday! The children and parents had a fantastic afternoon – and from the glowing feedback we have received, it was a day to remember.
From bouncy castles and assault courses to skateboarding, circus skills and a penalty shoot-out, there was something for everyone. Sam and the team from Circus Party (www.circusparty.co.uk) brought incredible energy to the afternoon, and the Selfie Pod (https://www.boxphotobooths.co.uk/selfiepods) was a huge hit – if you didn’t manage to grab your photos on the day, please contact Sara Khan for the link. The food went down a treat too, with Ottolenghi-style salads and a menu that felt every bit as special as the occasion deserved!
We hope everyone had a chance to sign our Big Birthday Card – this will be framed by the PTA and placed in school in a fitting position, alongside a time capsule we have been planning. More details on that to follow next week!
We are so grateful to our Premium Sponsor Halletts and our Event Sponsor Rivera Properties, whose generous support made this a free event for all families.
Huge thanks also to Skates & Ladders and Foxes FC for coming along and helping make the afternoon so memorable for our children.
And of course, none of this would have been possible without the wonderful team at Rosslyn Park FC, the BHS staff who were on hand throughout for first aid duties and welcoming families, the parent volunteers who manned the inflatables so brilliantly, and the Core PTA team who put in an enormous amount of work behind the scenes to pull it all together.
A special mention too to Dan and the team at Rite Bounce (www.ritebounce.com), who kept all seven inflatables up and running throughout the afternoon – and made sure the candy floss and popcorn remained in full flow for the duration! 🍭
Thank you all – here’s to the next 150 years! 🎂
The children completed their LAMDA exams in early June, and I am delighted to share that all 37 children achieved a Distinction in their results.
A huge congratulations to everyone who took part. This is a truly wonderful achievement, and you should all be incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication.
In connection with our Senior play production of Aladdin, the children in Year 5 designed the programme cover, applying the skills they had developed throughout the year. They explored a range of visual ideas while further developing their ability to work with black-and-white effects. The children thoroughly enjoyed the creative process, resulting in a collection of striking and imaginative designs.
On Monday, Year 3 celebrated the end of the year and their 10 stars in the jar with a trip to Pizza Express and Kew Gardens. After making their own pizzas and enjoying some ice cream, the children enjoyed the perfect weather whilst playing in the children’s area and gardens. A super fun day out!
This week we enjoyed a wonderful visit from Miss Gould (Our Year 1 Teacher for the Day), who helped us start work on our summer poster – butterflies, bees and bugs…
We will be back for our final week to finish the poster and have an eco scavenger hunt.
What a spectacular performance of Aladdin! Please click here to see the wonderful pictures in the parent portal. Video to follow next week: Photo Galleries Details | Broomfield Parent Cloud Portal
