We warmly invite parents to attend our Summer Serenade Instrumental Concerts taking place in the next couple of weeks. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Broomfield children who receive instrumental tuition either at school or externally to perform for you all.
There will be a Lower School concert and a Senior School concert for children who play an instrument or have singing lessons. The Lower School Summer Serenade will include children from Years 1-3 and will take place on Tuesday 13th May at 6pm – 7:15pm. The Senior School Serenade will include Years 4- 6 and takes place on Tuesday 20th May at 5:45pm -7:30pm.
As the programme for the Lower School Summer Serenade will be finalised next week, it is especially important for parents of children who have lessons outside Broomfield, to let me know via email the instrument, the name of the piece and the composer their child would like to perform. Please provide this information by Wednesday 7th May at the latest.
Broomfield music teachers will pass on to me their pupils’ performance information directly.
If you wish for your child to take part or if you have any questions, please email ifourie@broomfieldhouse.com.
A reminder, on Wednesday 21st May 2025, we will be visited by the award winning, popular children’s poet Rachel Piercey for exciting readings and performances from the latest books in her Brown Bear Wood series. She will be signing and dedicating copies to the children on the day. Attached to the newsletter email is an order form so you can order a book for your child to have signed on the day. We are excited to read all about “It’s busy down in the woods today” and “Wisdom of the woods”.

A reminder to our Year 6 Parents that our annual Bikeability week will take place from Monday 12th to Friday 15th May. Please bring your child’s bike to school on the morning of Monday 12th May at 8:15am via the Princes Road vehicle gate and leave by the wall (Lukasz will be there to guide you). The bikes will be securely stored overnight at school and should be taken home at the end of school on Friday. Children should wear their sports kit for the entire week and bring a water bottle with them as well as their helmets. High-vis vests will be given to the children for their training. If your child does not have a bike or helmet to use, please try to arrange with other parents in Year 6 to share bikes or contact the school office: office@broomfieldhouse.com
Mr Kennedy will be taking a group of Year 5 children to the Hampton Maths Wizard Competition on Wednesday, 7th May. You will have been notified if your child has been selected for this competition. All children attending should come to school in their full uniform including blazer and hat. The children will depart at 8:30am and will return in time for a lovely lunch at school.
This is an all-day trip, and we will be leaving promptly at 8:45 am, so please arrive to school at the normal time.
The children need to wear the full uniform, including hats and blazers. Packed lunches will be provided, but the children should bring a water bottle in their school or sports rucksack, as they have done before.
We may visit the shop, (time permitting), so children can bring a maximum of £15 spending money.
We hope to be back at school by 3:30 pm.
A reminder that the Richmond Safe Walking Scheme for Year 3 children will be taking place next week on 12th, 13th and 14th May. Training will take place on roads around the school and will be carried out by a team of trained instructors from the Road Safety Team, London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. The children should wear their sports kits and sun cream should be applied before coming to school. Hi-Vis jackets will be provided.

We are excited to share our fresh new look with you. Over the past year, our team has been working hard behind the scenes to create a website that truly reflects the values and vibrant community of Broomfield House School.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring this project to life — from our staff and leadership team to the website team at Innermedia.
We would love to hear what you think: www.broomfieldhouse.com
Please note that the Parent Portal will be moving to a separate platform from the main website. We will be working on this transition over the course of the term, and more details will be shared soon.
Music Exam Results
We have received some more fantastic music exam results before the holidays.
Piano results: (pupils taught by Miss Crawford)
Isabella: Grade 1 Piano High Merit
Anika: Initial Grade Piano Merit
Arnav: Initial Grade Piano Pass
Hampton welcomed over 100 junior pupils for an exciting day of music making. Led by Hampton’s Music Department with support from Senior School musicians, pupils participated in a range of masterclasses in singing, brass, woodwind, percussion and strings. After working hard during rehearsals, the young instrumentalists and singers entertained family and friends in a celebration concert.
This week the children in Kindergarten had their very first violin group lesson. We looked at the different parts of the violin, we practised how to hold the bow and what it looks (and sounds like!) to pluck a string.
The children really enjoyed their first session and Mrs Kim-Shin and I are very excited about the next few weeks as the children get used to playing an orchestral instrument in a group setting.
