Year 3 will be taking part in the Richmond Safe Walking Scheme on 11, 12 and 13 May, giving them the opportunity to build confidence and learn valuable road safety skills. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on these days. Parents are asked to complete the consent form shared via email from the office email.
This is a reminder that Mr Clarke, our wonderful brass teacher will be in school on Tuesday 28th April. Children in Year 4 and Y5 will have the opportunity to try out a brass instrument. Mr Clarke will then contact the parents of children who took part in the trials with some more information, feedback and next steps.
We are also very excited about our Lower School and Senior Summer Serenades coming up in the next few weeks. More detailed information will be available in next week’s newsletter to give peripatetic teachers a chance to confirm who will be performing. Any children who receive instrumental tuition outside Broomfield are also very welcome to take part in these concerts. Parents of children receiving external lessons should email Miss Fourie directly on ifourie@broomfieldhouse.com. There is no need for parents to email the school if their child is having lessons at Broomfield as the music teachers will send their pupil lists to Miss Fourie.
Year 1 are excited to be welcoming Forest School for their next outdoor learning session with Scott on Friday 1st May. It promises to be a fun-filled and memorable experience and we can’t wait to see their enthusiasm and curiosity in action. Our Future Leaders Workshop challenges children to solve complex tasks as a team, fostering the resilience needed to handle unfamiliar situations with ease. Since leadership starts with listening and ends with clear communication, we help Year 4 and 5 students develop these vital habits early, ensuring they enter their later primary years feeling prepared, capable, and ready to contribute.
Article: Feel the Rhythm
Inspired by the inaugural exhibition at the new V&A East, we have come up with some suggestions for musical outings across London to put a spring in your step.
We have absolutely loved hearing about the challenges you’ve been completing over Easter – thank you so much for sharing! We’ll be putting together a collection of photos soon, so please do send any pictures to the PTA team at PTATeam@broomfieldhouse.com.
We are also extending the deadline to complete challenges and collect sponsorship to May half term, so there’s still plenty of time to get involved.
If you haven’t already, please do register and find all the details via the links below:
Some of our Year 5 girls will be selling handmade bracelets and baked goods as part of their 150 Challenge on Friday 1st May at pick-up.
Please bring some cash along if you’d like to buy something – it would mean a great deal to them!
We are so excited to share that Broomfield’s Big Birthday Bash will be taking place on Saturday 27th June at Rosslyn Park FC. We’ll be sharing full details at the next PTA meeting on Monday 11th May – watch this space!
At the end of this term, Sara Khan, Francesca Baker and Yasmin Martin will be stepping down from the PTA Core Team, and Arzu Karagiannopoulos will be stepping down from the Uniform Team. We are so grateful for everything they have contributed.
We are now looking for volunteers from across the school to help support both teams – particularly parents from PK to Year 4. If you’d like to find out more about what’s involved, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the current PTA team- PTAChair@broomfieldhouse.com; PTASecretary@broomfieldhouse.com
We will also be looking for new Class Reps. There will be a thank you coffee for outgoing Reps and to welcome new Reps on the last day of term, Friday 10th July, at 8.30am in the school dining room.
If you maybe interested please come along to our next PTA meeting- on Monday May 11th- 6.30 for 7pm start, in the school dining room.
We had considered organising a PTA Bike and Scooter Sale, but after a somewhat lukewarm response in the Class Reps WhatsApp group, we’ve decided to give that one a miss for now! Instead, we wanted to draw your attention to the ClassList Listings feature, which is a brilliant way for BHS families to buy and sell bikes, scooters and more directly with each other. There are already two bikes listed (pictures attached!)– so do take a look if you’re in the market, and please do add any items you’re looking to sell!
We are absolutely thrilled that this year’s Silent Auction raised just under £7,200 – a truly fantastic result! Many thanks to everyone who placed a bid and helped make it such a success. Special thanks to Ben Rivera for his excellent outreach skills, and to Zahra Dhamji for taking on the auction website and doing a brilliant job with it; as well as everyone else involved.
The auction team will be in touch with all winning bidders over the coming week, so do look out for a message if you haven’t heard already.
Our Run Club had an amazing time taking part in the ‘TCS Mini London Marathon in schools’ today. We wanted to make sure we completed the challenge on the same weekend as the amazing London Marathon which will take place this Sunday! The children loved the challenge of completing the distance and the atmosphere was full of encouragement, energy and big smiles. It was a brilliant celebration of teamwork, determination and enjoyment of being active and everyone finished feeling proud of their achievement. A fantastic effort by all involved – our runners truly caught the marathon spirit!
Year 1 had a “PIG-TURE” PERFECT time at Bocketts Farm today. The children were graced with the perfect sunny day and enjoyed a wholesome tractor ride to see an array of farm animals, with Mango and Chutney (the highland cows) being firm favourites. They were able to enjoy a close encounter experience with a chicken, hamster and rabbit, before learning how to stroke a horse. Following a visit to the big barn, the children watched a highly competitive pig race in which Alison Gammond stole the show and came first place!
To end the day the children explored the adventure gardens and went down an extremely cool sack and slide experience. A huge thank you to Chef Nay for the delicious packed lunch and to Matthew, Cathie, Emory and Leila’s mums for giving up their day to make the trip safe and spectacular for us all.
They “COW-DN’T” have asked for a better end to our first week back and look forward to using our learning from today in our science and geography lessons this term.
Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time during Bikeability this week, enjoying a week full of cycling, confidence-building and fresh air. The children embraced the challenge with big smiles, plenty of enthusiasm and lots of energy, turning the playground into a hub of two-wheeled fun. They worked hard all week, developing their skills and confidence on their bikes. They journeyed out onto the local roads to put all they had learned into practise. It was a great success and a real highlight of the term—well done, Year 6!
Year 1 have just completed their fishbowl drawings inspired by Henri Matisse. The children have learned how to draw a cylindrical shape and were also encouraged to include details and to reflect on colour contrasts. They also practised their colouring skills, resulting in vivid and expressive artwork.
Skateboarding Club rolled into action this week with an exciting and energetic launch! With three lively lunchtime sessions, the children were buzzing with excitement as they threw themselves into learning new tricks, building confidence and cheering each other on. There were plenty of smiles, a great team spirit and lots of fun as everyone got stuck in! An awesome start to what promises to be a brilliant new club!
Fleur has been busy over the Easter holidays taking part in the BHS 150 Challenge. She set herself the ambitious goal of creating 150 tiny origami wishing stars in support of the Mondo Foundation, with a fundraising target of £150. Any money raised beyond this will be donated to a charity of her choice—most likely a dog charity, though she’s still deciding which one. We’re sure Fleur will enjoy showing her beautiful origami stars to the class this week. Well done Fleur.
