Beyond World Book Day 2026

A sincere thank you to every child who entered the Beyond World Book Day 2026 – ‘A Day in the Life’ competition – all entrants will be awarded a certificate to celebrate their hard work, time and talents on their truly beautiful and bespoke creations!

We are delighted to announce that the children who have been selected to represent Broomfield as finalists in the competition next Friday are: Aria (K), Bo and Georgina (Year 1), Max, Rihanna and Gabby (Year 2) and Tamara and Elena (Year 5). We wish them all the best and are certain that they will represent Broomfield exceptionally well and make all of us very proud. Photos of the event and some of the wonderful work from our winners and runners up will be shared next week!

Rose House Cake Sale and Raffle

The children are very much looking forward to the raffle and cake sale taking place on Friday 13th March to raise funds for the Chrysalis Youth Empowerment Project in Uganda. Mr Kennedy kindly reminds families to send in £1 this week so that children can take part in the raffle, which will be drawn during Friday’s assembly. The cake sale will be held in the playground at 3:30pm, so please ensure whoever is collecting your child brings 50p and £1 coins to purchase some delicious treats; children must be supervised when buying cakes so that any allergies or intolerances can be safely managed.

Rose House families are warmly thanked for raffle donations already received—further prizes may be sent in with children to Mr Kennedy in Year 5, or handed to class teachers or the school office. For the cake sale, please label all baked goods using the allergy checker sticker provided (collect one from the office if you haven’t received it) to help us meet food safety requirements; please remember that no items may contain nuts or peanuts. Cakes should be delivered to the Year 4 Study Room at 8:15am on Friday morning.

Pre-Loved Uniform Sale

The PTA Pre-Loved Uniform Team will be hosting a sale at the same time as the Rose House Cake Sale on Friday 13 March at 3:30pm.

This trip will include activities which help the children to learn how to be safe in different scenarios e.g. what to do in the case of a fire alarm, when crossing roads or when travelling to and from school on public transport. The day will start with normal lessons on Tuesday. We will have an early lunch in school and we will leave for the trip at about 12.30pm to Richmond. We should be back by about 3.40pm when the children can be collected to go home. The children should wear their normal school uniform but should bring their games coats just in case it rains as some activities will be outside.

Fantastic Feedback - Well Done Broomfield

We wanted to share with you all some positive feedback we received following an independent Idling and School Travel Observation that took place on 24 February 2026. One area to note was: Congratulate the School community on their high levels of active travel (walking and cycling) and encourage them to continue to travel this way whenever possible. Well Done everyone.

Our Future Leaders Workshop challenges children to solve complex tasks as a team, fostering the resilience needed to handle unfamiliar situations with ease. 2026 is the National Year of Reading, making World Book Day an especially big day. This year it is all about encouraging children to read for pleasure. It doesn’t matter what your kids are reading about; if it is something that genuinely interests them they are far more likely to stick at it. Ditto, how they read – magazines, comic strips – bring them on!
We’ve delightedly spent our time sifting through the crop of new shows in London so that we can recommend the ones we think are worth a family outing. On that front, Rose Wylie: The Picture Comes First which opens at the Royal Academy on Saturday, will surely be a hit with kids.

The BHS Silent Auction is back!

Each year, thanks to the incredible generosity of local businesses, our school and BHS families, our Silent Auction has grown into one of the highlights of the school calendar – and one of the most important parts of our fundraising year.

The funds raised go directly towards the magical extras that make Broomfield so special: art workshops, Easter egg hunts, ice creams on the last day of term, and so much more.

This year’s auction opens Friday 13th March and closes Saturday 28th March – so get your bids in! And a huge thank you to every business and family who has made it possible.

🐣Easter Egg Hunt – Friday 27th March🐣

Every year group gets their chance to hunt for the coveted golden egg, and this year is no different! We’ll be hiding eggs across the school on the last day of term and would love a few parent helpers per year group to join us from 8.30–10am (each class will have its own time slot – TBC).

Helpers will be needed to organise the chocolate, set out the eggs and make sure everything runs smoothly before the hunt begins.

If you’re free that morning and fancy getting involved, please let your class rep know! We’re getting the schedule ready and will share it with the PTA Reps soon.

Lukasz' birthday celebration on World Book Day

Frankie Shines at ISA National Cross Country Final

Frankie proudly represented Broomfield at the ISA National Cross Country Final at Himley Hall last weekend, delivering an outstanding performance on a challenging course.

Despite very muddy conditions and a demanding uphill section, Frankie demonstrated remarkable determination. After a tough start, finding herself around 60th place and jostled heavily in the opening stretch, she stayed calm, focused and steadily worked her way through the field.

Her perseverance paid off as she crossed the line joint 14th out of 70 Year 5/6 girls, completing the 1,800m course in 06:45. She also finished 3rd among the London West qualifiers, contributing valuable points that helped the region secure victory in the junior girls’ category.

A fantastic achievement! Well done Frankie, for flying the Broomfield flag so high!

Artwork of the Week

In the final days of the colder season, the Kindergarten children completed their winter bird mixed-media collages. Through this project, they explored mark-making, experimented with the combination of oil pastels and watercolours and reflected on patterns. The children created some eye-catching collages.

In connection with the Lunar New Year, the Pre-Kindergarten children decorated horses. They enjoyed working with different media and experimenting with colour mixing.

Eco Club Litter Pick

On Monday 2 March, our Eco Club took part in a litter pick around the local Kew area. Equipped with gloves, grabbers and plenty of enthusiasm, the pupils collected rubbish from nearby streets, pathways and green spaces. Their efforts helped keep the neighbourhood looking clean and tidy, while also encouraging everyone to think more carefully about the impact of waste on the environment. We are incredibly proud of the Eco Club’s teamwork, determination and commitment to looking after the world around them.

Piano Duet

Thank you and well done to Gaia (Y1) and Miss Crawford performing a lovely piano duet, ” Tucker’s Secret”  during our assembly this morning.

Year 1 Forest School

Year 1 had a spectacular Forest School session where they were introduced to archery which was most certainly a highlight of the academic year! They also enjoyed wood chopping and some new outdoor songs and games. Thank you to Scott for making outdoor learning such a magical and memorable experience.
