We are excited to announce that Fencing Club is now open to our Year 2 children. For the first time, Year 2 can take part in this fun club and learn some fantastic skills and tactics. If your child would like to join Fencing for the summer term please reach out to Miss Lovett in the office.
During the summer term, the club will continue their work on the British Fencing achievement awards. Children will have the opportunity to take their Grade 1 exam, while more advanced students will focus on preparing for Grade 2.
In a typical class, they cover essential elements such as footwork, games, and technical pair work. The games are designed to enhance agility, speed, coordination, balance, and strength, all contributing to the overall goal of achieving physical literacy.
At the end of the year, we will host our annual summer competition, where students can earn medals.
On Wednesday 21st May 2025, we will be visited by the award winning, popular children’s poet Rachel Piercey for exciting readings and performances from the latest books in her Brown Bear Wood series. She will be signing and dedicating copies to the children on the day. Attached to the newsletter email is an order form so you can order a book for your child to have signed on the day. We are excited to read all about “It’s busy down in the woods today” and “Wisdom of the woods”.
We are incredibly proud to share that our Deputy Head, Mrs Pache, has been appointed as the next Head of Wandsworth Prep School, starting in September 2025. This exciting step in her professional journey is a testament to her dedication and the impact she has made over her 11 years at Broomfield. It also reflects the value we place on developing exceptional school leaders and our ongoing commitment to professional development across the school.
Mrs Pache’s time at Broomfield has been marked by warmth, kindness, and a deep commitment to every child’s success. We know she will continue to give her all to Broomfield throughout this term, and we look forward to celebrating her many achievements in the months ahead.
We are thoughtfully considering all the amazing opportunities to evolve our leadership structure. Planning is already underway to ensure we continue building on the strength and depth of our existing team and we will update parents in due course.
We were excited to welcome all our families back to school this week for the final term of this academic year. The summer term is always a highlight of the school year, packed with excitng events. We are looking forward to some of our favourite Broomfield traditions, including Sports Day, the much-anticipated Year 6 Play, and of course, the fun-filled PTA Summer Fair. These events bring our school community together and give the children wonderful opportunities to celebrate a fantastic year at Broomfield!
What an amazing start to the summer term. This morning we hosted our very first Broomfield Run Club and what a turn out we had! We set off on our run after a fun warm up and everyone did amazingly. We had all abilities with some seasoned runners at the front and some beginners who enjoyed some running and walking. Breakfast was delicious and after a quick change everyone was energised and ready to start their day.
We are excited to share what we have been working on behind the scenes over the past year — the launch of our brand new Broomfield House School website! Designed with our school community in mind, the new site features a fresh, modern look, improved navigation and more video content. The countdown begins soon, and we cannot wait to reveal it to everyone next week!
Just before the Easter holidays, Year 3 enjoyed a fabulous Forest School workshop at school. The children learned how to safely use tools and made popcorn over a small campfire.
A huge congratulations to Alexi, who sat his Drum Kit Grade 2 exam during the holidays — and passed! Even though it wasn’t easy, Alexi pushed through and we are very proud of his achievement.
Year 1 created flower paintings. They looked at the shapes of flower heads and reflected on composition. They also practised their brush control and looked at colour mixing.
