Our Future Leaders Workshop challenges children to solve complex tasks as a team, fostering the resilience needed to handle unfamiliar situations with ease. Since leadership starts with listening and ends with clear communication, we help Year 4 and 5 students develop these vital habits early, ensuring they enter their later primary years feeling prepared, capable, and ready to contribute.

It seems crazy to be thinking about half term when we have only just got back from the Easter break but after the bank holiday this weekend, it will be less than three weeks to go. We asked the team at dandelion.london for some suggestions of half term events and activities that require pre-booking.
Inspired by the inaugural exhibition at the new V&A East, we have come up with some suggestions for musical outings across London to put a spring in your step.

11+ Coffee

Last Friday we were thrilled to welcome representatives from several local secondary independent schools – St Paul’s, Hampton, Surbiton, KGS and Kneller Hall – for a relaxed coffee morning with parents from Years 3 to 6.
The feedback has been wonderful – thank you to everyone who came along and took the time to share their thoughts. The representatives from Godolphin & Latymer, Latymer Upper and Ibstock who were unfortunately unable to attend at the last minute due to illness, tube strike and their child’s chicken pox, send their apologies and remain keen to meet parents. Dr Sara Khan (PTA Chair); Mr Anstey, Mrs Ketel and Mrs Caroline Roberts (Head of Admissions) will be reflecting on the morning over the coming weeks, with an eye to building on it further in future.

BHS 150 Challenge

Congratulations and thank you to all the pupils who have signed up for the BHS 150 Challenge so far. Some really inspiring initiatives that display the very best of Broomfield. A big thank you to all the parents who are supporting the children and don’t forget to share your pictures with the PTA team at PTATeam@broomfieldhouse.com.

The deadline to complete challenges and collect sponsorship is May half term, so there’s still plenty of time to get involved.

If you haven’t already, please do register and find all the details via the links below:

Highlights

Hampton Junior Schools Music Workshop

On Sunday 26th April a group of Broomfield pupils and 2 teachers attended the Hampton Junior Schools Music Workshop.

Almost 100 children from various prep and junior schools took part in the workshop and we were split into two groups. The orchestra and the choir.

Pupils mainly playing woodwind, brass and string instruments rehearsed and later performed 2 pieces followed by a combined piece for the whole orchestra.

The choir spent the morning learning 3 songs which they also performed during the afternoon concert. The repertoire included, “Oh when the saints” , “When I grow up” from the musical, Matilda and “How far we go” from the animated film, “Moana”.

It was not all work and no play, as we also had some lunch and time to run around, relax and enjoy the sunshine before performing in the Hammond Theatre in the afternoon.

We would like to thank Miss Doherty for joining us on the day and for supporting us during the workshop.

Inter House Spelling Bee

Rose House Team:  Elsa, Ella, Evie (Reserve: Isla)

Palmer House Team: Adil, Alexis, Jamie (Reserve: Grace)

Mead House Team:  Alice, Christiaan, Scarlett (Reserve: Aurelia)

On Wednesday 29th April 2026, the children of Broomfield House gathered in the school hall to witness the final of the Year 6 Spelling Bee.

After two tightly contested opening rounds, we sadly bid farewell to Rose (on 15 points). Palmer (scoring 18 points) and Mead (also on 18 points) went on to face each other in the final.

Alexis (representing Palmer) and Christiaan (representing Mead) were chosen by their teammates to compete in the final showdown. Following an intense and incredibly closely fought battle (with one point in it!), Palmer emerged as the champions of 2026!

Well done to all those who took part and a big thank you to their fellow Housemates for helping with their preparation.

Artwork of the Week

Kindergarten children explored the shapes and patterns of a tiger. They created expressive representations and had the opportunity to practise their ink painting skills.

Brentford Football Tour for Year 5

On Tuesday, Year 5 had a tour of all the behind-the-scenes action at Brentford Football stadium!  They were able to explore the changing rooms, the pitch and the press room before an excellent ‘Q&A’ session with the club’s ambassador and ex-player, Karleigh Osborne.  The children were all very engaged and asked plenty of very thoughtful questions throughout our visit.

Delight for our Debators

On Wednesday afternoon, the Year 5 debating team, (Milly, Melody, Alana, Ayan, Camila and Henry), visited Ibstock Place School for a debating competition against a number of other local schools.  Each team of three had to take part in three debates; one prepared and two cold debates.  Competition was fierce but the whole team did us proud and won all six debates to be crowned the winners!  The children were all very confident and polite in their delivery.  Thank you to Mr Kennedy for inspiring the team!

Amazing Achievements

We have some amazing achievements this week at Broomfield. Well done to Eita (Y4) who recently received a Distinction in his Grade 1 Piano Exam. Also there was a fantastic result for Sarita (Y3) and her dance club who were successful at their most recent dance competition. And what a lovely way to finish off the week as Lily (Y3) performed a piano arrangement of ‘Titanium’ in assembly this morning.

Well done to Eita, Sarita and Lily! We are very proud of you.

Eco Club - "Our Power, Our Planet"

To start the summer term, the Eco Club celebrated Earth day which took place on the 22 April. This year’s theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ and with this in mind the Eco members took the power and planted some seeds for our planet. They recycled toilet roll tubes and used them as plant pots, decorated the outsides and then planted some summer seeds. Hopefully in a few weeks with some sunshine, water and love, we will see some shoots. Once the planting had been completed the team took to designing their own Earth day posters – please see images attached.
