Our Harvest Festival Assembly will be taking place on Friday 24th October and we are planning on making the same donation requests as last year. We ask all families in Years 4, 5 and 6 to fill a decorated shoebox with foodie treats: a small box of chocolates, a packet of fancy biscuits, lovely jams or chutneys for example. The recipients of your generosity are elderly and housebound residents of Kew, and the gifts will be hand-delivered by small groups of Year 6 children during the afternoon of Friday 24th. We are grateful to the Kew Neighbourhood Association which supports us in identifying those in need. All other year groups are asked to give donations of food which will be delivered to Richmond Food Bank. Please follow this link to see a list of food currently needed: https://richmond.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/. All donations will be collected in the Atrium during the week beginning 20th October. Year 6 parents are invited to join us for the assembly at 9am and we anticipate it will be finished by 10.15am. Year 6 parent volunteers are also needed to support the children with making the deliveries. Thank you in advance for your generosity in supporting our Harvest causes.

It was wonderful to see so many mums across the school at The Hope last Friday. Thanks to everyone who joined us — and a special shout-out to Year 6 who were preparing for the weeks ahead in style… you’ve got this! 🙌
Sunday morning was an early start for the Broomfield Run Club as we took part in our very first Junior Park Run at Moormeads Park. Well done to all the runners that came along and to all the teachers who tried to keep up.
Our Year 5 and 6 girls took part in a highly competitive football training match on Wednesday against Radnor Prep. The girls all played extremely well and are ready to take on St. Catherine’s next Wednesday 8th October at London Welsh at 2:30pm and parents are welcome to come and support.
This week the children in Year 1 and 2 welcomed their parents to the classroom to see where they learn and to celebrate their work. Following this successful morning, it was evident how impactful moments like these are and how much they mean to the children, teachers and parents alike! Some feedback from our Key Stage 1 children: “My mummy almost fell off her chair when she saw my writing” – “I am so happy that my daddy got to see my work” – “They could not believe I did it all by myself” – “My story made my daddy laugh” – “Daddy was so proud that he took a photo to show mummy while she was away in Amsterdam, I was so happy” – “My mummy thought mine and my sister’s storyboard were fantastic and I felt so excited that she was proud of us” – “Mummy thought my work was excellent and I was so glad that she came all the way to school to see it”.
After a session on the dangers of littering, this week, Eco Club hit the streets of Kew to go litter picking. Armed with litter pickers, gloves, high-vis vests and bin bags the team got to work. We were all surprised at the amount of litter collected, from tissues and crisp packets to drinks cans and coffee cups, all were picked up! The team found numerous cigarette ends, hair bands, banana skins, apple cores and orange peels and disposed of them all ensuring the roads around Broomfield House were clean.
In Year 1, the children explored the proportions and key elements of portraiture. They immersed themselves in the process of creating expressive self-portraits using gouache paint, experimenting with colour, texture, and
The sun came out ☀️ for the Year 1 class walk around Kew Village and the children were an absolute delight. The walk was part of the children’s extended learning for their Geography topic ‘Our Local Area’. The children confidently followed a map key to find different types of buildings and landmarks in Kew. Invisalign kindly gave every child a free toothpaste and leaflet which added the utmost excitement to our walk. They learnt some new places like the ‘estate agents’ but were clearly experts of the area, especially Gails and Starbucks 🥐🥛. They made all the adults laugh with their take on the ‘adult drink shop’ 🍾🍷, the ‘mobile home box’ 📞 and the the flower shop being a great spot for ‘daddy to buy flowers for an anniversary’ 💐. Their ideas were inspired and their contributions throughout the walk were genuinely exceptional. A huge thank you to Matthew, Gaia, Theodore and Bo’s mums for joining us and making our trip extra safe and very special.
