Elderjoy – Happiness in a cup!

Year 4 have been working hard on their elderflower project and they are ready to launch their refreshing drink and delicious cakes at Kew Fete next Saturday 21st June at Kew Green. The Fete opens at 11am and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Digital Media Survey

We have recently completed our termly Digital Media Survey with the children in Year 2 – 6. Several of the children stated that they have social media accounts on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Snapchat. While many of the children may actually be referring to their parents account, we thought it would be worth reminding parents that the age limit for most social media accounts is 13 years old due to data protection laws.

Year 4, 5 and 6

Senior School Musical

We are excited for our production of The Lion King being held on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th July. Miss Travis has sent an email with lots of information including the key dates, timings, and important details to ensure everything runs smoothly for a busy week. Mrs Doyle will share the link to book tickets on Monday. The Senior Play is really a swansong for the Year 6 children, the climax to their 8 years in school.  Therefore, Year 6 families are invited to book four tickets, but only 2 for each performance. Year 5 families can book two tickets, and these can be taken together or as individual tickets. As Year 4 have had their own play earlier this year and are supporting as a choir rather than performing on stage, we will not be offering parent tickets for Year 4 due to capacity.

After School Care - Monday 16th

After School Care will be held in the Kindergarten classroom on Monday 16th June.

Year 3

Pizza Making

As a result of their hard work this term, the children have successfully collected all ten stars in our class jar! As their reward, the children will be celebrating with a day off timetable for a pizza making workshop at Pizza Express followed by a pizza picnic, and activities in Kew Gardens. Our exciting day out will be on Monday 16th July 2025 and we will be off site from approximately 11am to 3.00pm. The children should wear their PE kit to school with trainers and must wear their sunhat (as the weather is looking very warm). Suncream should also be applied before coming to school. The children will be accompanied by school staff and will be dismissed as normal at the end of the day.

Year 2

Year 2 Trip to Legoland

On Monday 16th June, Year 2 will be visiting Legoland. The children should wear their PE kit and arrive in school for 8:30am so we can depart promptly. We are expecting sunny weather so please apply sunscreen in the morning and pack a light rainproof jacket just in case. The children will go straight onto the rides once we arrive, and after lunch, we will explore the Lego building areas. The children should bring their school rucksack, with a filled, non-leak water bottle inside. We will provide a packed lunch and a snack that will go inside their bag. We will return to school by 3:00pm.

Year 1

Year 1 Trip to Bockett’s Farm

On Monday 16th June, Year 1 will be visiting Bockett’s Farm. The children should wear their PE kit and arrive in school for 8:30 so we can depart promptly. Depending on the weather, please apply sun screen and pack layers accordingly. The children will enjoy some time with the animals, a tractor ride and watch the great pig race where they will cheer on their favourite pig, I hear ‘Hugh Grunt’ and ‘Snoop Hog’ are favourites for the day! The children should bring their school rucksack, with a full water bottle inside. We will provide them with a packed lunch and a snack that will go inside their bag  for the day. They will enjoy their lunch in a little barn that is sheltered for all weather conditions. Before we leave, the children will be allowed to spend their money at the gift shop to purchase a souvenir. Thank you for sending the money in sealed envelopes in advance, we greatly appreciate this. We will return to school by 3:00 and all after school clubs will go ahead as normal.

PTA Senior Disco

Senior Disco – A Night to Remember
Just before half term, our Senior Disco brought plenty of energy, music, and fun to the evening! The children danced indoors with glow sticks in hand, while parents relaxed outside with drinks and canapés — though a few couldn’t resist showing off their moves on the dance floor (the YMCA was a definite crowd-pleaser!).
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped with the setup, running of the event, and — importantly — the tidy-up afterwards! Special thanks go to Kate Dossa and Andrew Martin for their fantastic support throughout the evening at the Parent Bar and for staying until the very end to keep everything running smoothly. A big thank you also to Chef Nay for her delicious canapés and snacks!
It was a fantastic way to head into the break and a lovely celebration for our senior pupils.
If any year 3-6 parents have feedback please reach out to Sara Khan, as we plan a similar format for next year.

Year 5/6 PTA Coffee Morning- 11+ themed!

Last Friday morning, a group of Year 5 and 6 parents gathered at Torelli’s café for an informal coffee morning to share their 11+ experiences, insights, and helpful tips. A big thank you to everyone who attended! We hope to keep this spirit of support going as our current Year 5 families begin their own 11+ journey.

Broomfield Parents Take on Eastbourne Triathlon!

Broomfield Parents Take on Eastbourne Triathlon!

On Sunday, June 8th, 2025, eleven Broomfield parents — with children in KG, Year 1, Year 4, and Year 6 — took part in the Eastbourne Triathlon, competing in both sprint and standard distance relay races.

The weekend started with drama as most of the team arrived on Saturday to find Eastbourne battered by wind, rain, and stormy seas. Spirits were dampened, and uncertainty hung in the air about whether Sunday’s races would go ahead. But to everyone’s relief, the storm passed overnight.

By race morning, the skies had cleared, the rain had stopped, and the sun came out — just in time for our first racers to dive in.

We had two simple goals:

  1. Don’t get disqualified
  2. Complete the race and have fun!

Both distances offered serious challenges — choppy swims, tough hill climbs in strong winds, and hot midday sun on the run. But everyone gave it their all, supported each other, and crossed the finish line with smiles and a sense of real accomplishment.

More than just a race, it was a weekend of great memories, team spirit, and plenty of inspiration for our kids. Buoyed by the experience, we’re already looking at future events — both triathlon and non-triathlon — for later this year and into 2026.

Many of our team members will be running the Richmond RunFest in September, and Andrew will be taking on his first solo standard-distance triathlon at the T100 event in the Docklands this August.

Interested in joining us? Whether it’s a relay, a full triathlon, or another kind of race, we’d love to welcome new faces. Reach out to Andrew Martin (andrewjsm@gmail.com) to get involved!

Highlights

Year 4 Spanish Tapas

Year 4 had a fantastic trip to a local tapas restaurant in Ealing as part of their Spanish studies. The children were excited to try traditional Spanish dishes such as patatas bravas, tortilla española, and chorizo. They practised ordering food in Spanish, using phrases they had learnt in class. The staff at the restaurant were very welcoming and helped the pupils with pronunciation. Everyone enjoyed tasting different flavours and learning about Spanish food culture. The highlight was sharing plates with friends, just like in Spain. It was a fun, educational experience that brought language learning to life in a delicious way. Special thanks to Mrs. Ali for organising the trip.

Rose House Raffle and Cake Sale

On Friday, Rose House held a fun raffle during assembly. Everyone was excited as tickets were picked and winners were called up to collect their prizes. The prizes included games, books, and toys, which were all kindly donated by the members of Rose House. The raffle helped raise money for a special charity, The Butterfly Project, supporting children in Uganda, and brought lots of smiles to the hall.

Rose House also ran a cake sale on the same day. There were lots of tasty treats brought in and sold by the member of Rose House. The cake sale was very popular, and almost everything was sold. All the money raised from both the raffle and cake sale is going to a charity that helps children and families who are going through hard times. It was a great day, and everyone felt proud to help support such a good cause.

In Art This Week

For our World Ocean Day exhibition, Year 3 worked on the theme of swimmers and sea life. The children studied human body movement and observed the shapes of different fish. At the same time, they developed their colouring skills and reflected on layout and composition.
