Highlights

Pupil Experience

This week we held our first Back-to-Broomfield day which came as a result of some of our leavers from last year feeling keen to return to Broomfield and reaching out to be of service to their community. It’s safe to say that Tara, Zach, Remy, Charlotte, Ela and Sophia were much like celebrities on site and were warmly welcomed by students and staff alike. There is much to be said about the fact that the children chose to spend a day of their first secondary school half term break, back with us at Broomfield and it was an honour to have them return. From Tara reuniting with her previous K buddy, Amelia, to assist her with poetry with in Year 1, to Zach meeting Lizzie and joining a 2025 Pupil Council meeting to all of the boys and girls sharing their secondary school success stories at lunch time with their friends. Being a part of the Broomfield community, is not something that ends when our children leave, rather the relationships made are most meaningful and evidently long-lasting.

Year 1 Diwali Celebrations

Happy Diwali 🪔 On Monday Year 1 had an unforgettable afternoon full of love, laughter and light. What a joy to celebrate one another’s culture and enrich the school experience in such a wholesome and authentic way. The children used their learning and inspirations from the session to write their own Diwali poems. A special thanks to Leo, Aevah, Amber, Harkiran and Armaan’s mums, Gaia’s mum and dad, Alara’s mum and grandad and Avni and Aileen for giving your time and talents, we are so grateful and appreciated all the beautiful traditional clothes, presents and activities.

Kindergarten celebrate Diwali

Kindergarten have had a wonderful week celebrating Diwali. They children have created their own beautiful diya lamps and used sand and glitter to make lovely rangoli designs.

Wednesday's Assembly

In our Wednesday RE assembly this week we were celebrating Diwali. Some of the children came in their beautiful, traditional Diwali clothes and shared what they enjoy most about the festival of light.  We discussed the meaning of the intricate mehndi patterns that are drawn on hands and feet using henna, and spoke about the delicious food that is made to be shared with family and friends. We also watched a video about one girl’s experiences as she helped to decorate her house for Diwali.

Run Club finishes with a Gail's

What a wonderful way to finish off a fantastic first Run Club at Broomfield. The children were beyond excited to finish our last run at our local Gail’s and they were even more excited to be cheered over the finish line by family and friends. Even though it was a cold morning, there was a warm feeling as the children enjoyed some delicious treats from the generous team at Gail’s. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Run Club in spring 2 and hope that our athletes keep up their running over the coming months.

Harvest Celebrations

A fantastic end to a very busy half term!

We had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate and reflect on all the good things in life through poetry and singing during our Harvest Assembly. The children really did themselves proud and a special thank you to all the Year 6 parents who attended this morning. We are also grateful for the Year 6 parents accompanying the children to help deliver the beautifully decorated Harvest boxes to our elderly Kew residents with Mrs Wrigley-Smith.

Our assembly this morning showcased Broomfield at its best, we have included some pictures, however there will be more shared after half term.

Mr Anstey and Mrs Doyle brought your generous donations to Richmond Foodbank this afternoon. The team at the foodbank thanked you all for your continued support as it makes a huge difference to those who need it. Thank you everyone.

Art Highlights

Year 4 created fruit still-life drawings using oil pastels. The children developed their observational skills while exploring composition and colour contrast. Year 3 designed beautiful cards to accompany our Harvest boxes. They experimented with mixed media and collage techniques to produce vibrant pieces. Art Club made witches and pumpkins as festive Halloween decorations, demonstrating their creativity and imagination.
