Highlights

Summer Serenade

On Tuesday 13th May we hosted our Lower School Summer Serenade for instrumentalists and singers from Year 1 to Year 3. It was a lovely summer’s evening as 23 of our younger Broomfield children prepared to perform in front of an audience. Some of the children performed in front of an audience for the very first time. We had a range of instruments including piano, trumpet and recorder and also a young singer. The joy of musicmaking was very clear for all to see and I am very proud of all the children who took part in the concert. A special thank you to Miss Crawford, Miss Travis, Mrs Carver Williams, Miss Bendall, Mrs Doyle, Mrs Pache and Mr Anstey for their help and support on the night.

Sustainability Assembly

On Wednesday, our school held a sustainability assembly to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire action. Our Eco Captain Fini (Y6) introduced Mrs Cornelius, Head of Sustainability with Dukes Education, who presented on topics such as climate change, recycling, and energy conservation. She also spoke to the children and asked lots of questions which the children excitedly answered. The assembly ended with a pledge, where everyone committed to making small changes in their daily lives to help the environment.

Kindergarten Trip to Kew Gardens

Pre-Kindergarten enjoyed a beautiful day at Kew Gardens. They explored the giant plants in the glasshouse, foraged amongst the trees to make dinosaur footprints using natural materials, and enjoyed a picnic lunch before having lots of fun in the playground. Sunshine and smiles all morning!

Triatholon Challenge

Tara (Year 6) and Camilla (Year 3) will be taking part in a junior triathlon on 31st May and have been steadily training in preparation. As part of the challenge, they have chosen to raise funds for Skylarks, a local charity in Twickenham that offers therapies and activities for children with disabilities and additional needs. You can find out more about the charity here: www.skylarks.charity. They’ve visited the charity in person, met the team, and seen some of the sessions in action. This experience has really brought the cause to life for them and made the training and fundraising feel personal and purposeful. If you would like to sponsor the girls, this is a link to their fundraising page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/sanazg
We wish them best of luck completing their triathlon and look forward to hearing all about their achievements in assembly.

This Week in Art

Year 6 have been working on still life drawing. They developed their observation skills and reflected on shades of grey. They worked with patterns and design to create a contrasting background.
