Monday 9th to Sunday 15th February is children’s mental health week. To show our support, Broomfield will be taking part in a ‘Shine Bright, Wear Bright’ mufti day on Tuesday 10th February. Children are encouraged to wear bright colours of their choosing and make a donation of £1 that can be given to their class teacher. If parents would prefer, donations can also be made to the Place2Be mental healthy charity via their website: Donate to Shine Bright, Wear Bright.
Get ready for something awesome! On Friday 6th, Skates and Ladders will be joining us for a high‑energy assembly to launch our brand‑new Skateboarding Club at Broomfield. Starting in the summer term, the club will be open to Years 2–6, giving pupils the chance to learn the fundamentals of skateboarding, from balance and board control to beginner tricks and techniques. If your child would like to take part in a trial session on Tuesday 10th February, please let Mrs Hanen know on office@broomfieldhouse.com
On Thursday 5th February 2026, we will be visited by local children’s author and parent at Broomfield House School, Yasmine Anane, for a talk about her new book called The Family Tree, to children from R3’s to Y2. The Family Tree is a heart-warming tale celebrating kindness, inclusion and above all, the beauty of differences.
All Books will be provided by The Kew Bookshop. If you would like to order your book in advance please click on this link: The Family Tree. Yasmine will be signing any purchased copies.
“When Mole sets off in search of his family tree, he discovers that true family and friendship aren’t about looking the same – they’re about the love we share with those around us. This heart-warming story celebrates kindness, inclusion, and the beauty of our differences, making it perfect for bedtime reading”
It promises to be a wonderful experience for the children in R3’s through to Year 2 and will hopefully encourage their love of reading.
Event Details:
Parent Attendance: Parents are welcome to attend the event to cheer on their children. Parents are also able to pick up their child from the event.
What to Wear:
Year 4 are travelling to Hampton Court Palace for an adventure in History to support their learning about the Tudors. They will take part in a workshop based on King Henry’s Court. The trip is taking place on Thursday 5th February and it is an all-day trip. They will travel by coach and will leave and return during the school day. Chef Nay will prepare a packed lunch, but they will need their water bottles in a hands-free bag (the sports bag works well). Children must be in full school uniform and grey winter coats, however they can wear their Broomfield beanies as it will be cold. Time permitting, the children will visit the gift shop and can bring a maximum of £10 spending money.
We would like to invite our parents in Early Years to come for our Open Class Coffee Morning on Friday 6th February. The Open Class gives parents the opportunity to see their child’s daily routine and classroom environment. Then parents are invited for coffee with some of our SLT team to discuss any questions you may have.

Nutrition has a profound and lifelong impact on a child’s health. As they grow rapidly – physically, mentally, and emotionally, what they eat directly shapes how their bodies and brains develop. Proper nutrition supports brain growth, memory, attention, and learning ability. Emma Brooks, Nutritional Therapist Dip.NT mFNTP, will talk to us about how we can support our children through diet.

The bitter weather we have had so far this year has been the perfect preparation for the Winter Olympics, coming back to a snowy EU country for the first time in twenty years. To get you in the mountain spirit, we have come up with some fun winter sports in and around town. Let the Games commence!
Following feedback in the recent PTA survey, we wanted to share a snapshot of what the PTA has funded so far this year. Thanks to the support of our parent community, we have been able to contribute to a wide range of pupil experiences across the school.
The graphic above highlights what has already taken place, as well as some exciting experiences coming up this term and next. We hope this gives a clear sense of how PTA fundraising directly supports pupils and enhances school life at Broomfield.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
As we approach Broomfield’s 150th anniversary, the PTA is delighted to be launching a series of special initiatives across the year, working closely with the school team to celebrate our school’s history, values and community.
We hope these will bring parents, pupils and staff together in meaningful and memorable ways.

Year 1 and Year 2 opened their classroom doors to their parents to share exciting learning experiences they have had over the last half term. The children chose their favourite piece of work and showcased it with pride. Both classrooms were full of love, laughter and a celebration of learning.
Broomfield House pupils from Years 4 to 6 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium to watch the FIFA Women’s Semi-Final between Gotham FC and Corinthians. The children were superb representatives of the school and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to watch elite women’s football in a professional stadium setting. The match was closely contested throughout, with both teams showing great quality and determination. In an exciting finish, Corinthians scored a dramatic last-minute goal to secure their place in the final. It was a memorable and inspiring experience for all involved and a brilliant opportunity to see top-level football live.
Broomfield pupils competed with great determination at the Dukes Cross Country event, held in good weather but on a challenging, muddy course. Despite being one of the smaller schools among the competitors, Broomfield performed exceptionally well across all year groups. The Year 5 girls produced an outstanding performance, winning gold for the third consecutive year. The Year 4 girls also ran superbly to secure a bronze medal, as did the Year 3 girls in a very competitive race. All runners showed resilience, teamwork and excellent sportsmanship throughout the event, making the school extremely proud.
PK and R3 had such a fun morning at forest school with Scott this morning!
The children had a fantastic time learning how to make sparks using a fire steel. They showed great focus and enthusiasm as they explored this new skill safely. After, we gathered around the fire to enjoy some warm squash and sing campfire songs together. It was a lovely morning full of learning, teamwork, and smiles!
The children in Kindergarten created a picture of a cat on a mat. They worked with oil pastels in combination with coloured ink while exploring patterns and practising their drawing and painting skills.
During Wednesday’s assembly, Lizzy and Grace (y6) were joined by Lily (y3) to talk about the importance of looking after the trees in our playground.
Aurelia and Alice then shared their concerns for the planet and the need for all of us to consider how we can make a difference and look after the environment.
Florence performed a flute piece ” Annie’s Song” during our Friday assembly last week. Miss Crawford accompanied her on the piano. Well, done Florence. It was lovely to see and hear you perform.
