We would like to take this opportunity to remind families about social media age limits. We strongly recommend that parents do not allow their children to access any form of social media as this age.
All of our pupils are below the minimum legal age to use social media platforms and most popular platforms require users to be at least 13 years old.
These age limits exist to protect children from inappropriate content, unwanted contact, and online risks.
We strongly encourage parents to:
Open conversations and shared expectations help children develop healthy, responsible digital habits and ensure that technology remains a positive and safe part of their lives.
We are excited to invite Broomfield parents to our next Fireside Lecture series on High Performance Learning. The session will be delivered by Amy Lilley-Stewart, Director of Professional Learning, and David Rowsell.
At the beginning of this academic year, Broomfield formally adopted the High-Performance Learning (HPL) framework. While the culture and values of high aspiration, ambition and growth have long been embedded in our school, we wanted to align our practice with a globally recognised, evidence-based approach. High Performance Learning is built on the belief that every child can achieve highly when given the right environment, mindset, and learning strategies.
During the session, we will introduce the High Performance Learning philosophy and framework and offer practical guidance for parents and carers on how to grow the minds of their children, both for success in school and for life beyond the classroom.
The session will provide practical advice on creating a home environment that promotes High Performance Learning and on how to support your child to develop strong thinking and learning skills. We will also explore how to nurture the values, attitudes and attributes that are closely associated with success at school and in life.
The session will start at 6pm until 7:15pm and it will be held in our school hall.

Open Class Coffee Morning – Year 3, 4 and 5
We would like to invite our parents in Years 3, 4 & 5 to come for our Open Class Coffee Morning on Friday 23rd January. It is my absolute pleasure to launch this year’s extremely exciting World Book Day inter-school competition! This year, you are invited to design and create a pop up poster or pop up book that details a day in the life at Broomfield House School. Like our assembly, where we used The Colour Monster pop up book and Alara’s pop up poster as examples, you should design and create what a day in the life at Broomfield looks like to you. You can work alone or with a partner and the final designs of your poster or book must be submitted to me by Monday 23rd February. The competition is for all year groups PK through to Y6.
The finalists will join me at Dukes House on Friday 13th March for a pop up book exhibition to present their book/ poster to a panel of judges and other finalists from 28 schools! All finalists will receive a medal on the day and a lucky winner will receive a special prize.
Further details in both of the flyers attached. Should you have any questions, do let me know!
Best wishes, Mrs CW.

Nutrition has a profound and lifelong impact on a child’s health. As they grow rapidly – physically, mentally, and emotionally, what they eat directly shapes how their bodies and brains develop. Proper nutrition supports brain growth, memory, attention, and learning ability. Emma Brooks, Nutritional Therapist Dip.NT mFNTP, will talk to us about how we can support our children through diet.

All children took part in PTA‑funded Mini First Aid lessons this week. Early Years enjoyed an engaging, age‑appropriate session that helped them understand what happens when they get hurt, why bumps form and how grown‑ups help them feel better. The class also included a story from The Mini Adventures of Freddie.
Children in Years 1–6 took part in practical, informative workshops where they learned how to stay calm and safe in an emergency, call 999, treat common injuries and assist an unconscious casualty—including practising CPR.
The sessions were a fantastic opportunity for pupils to build confidence and learn valuable life skills in a fun and supportive environment.
On Thursday, Year 5 took part in the Dukes Plus ‘Stretch Your Skills’ workshop, held at Dukes House in London.
The class were arranged into groups and challenged to work with children from a number of other Dukes schools to solve problems, use their leadership and communication skills, and even consider their own personality traits and how these can work together to build a successful team. Our children were all very engaged and clearly enjoyed the range of activities on offer.
A great morning was had by all – and a HUGE thank you to Ms Ahmed, Dr Baig and Mrs Dedova who all helped us to navigate the tube at rush-hour!
Year 4 explored the proportions of the human body and how it moves. The children imagined a parent and child standing in front of shop windows, pulling each other in opposite directions. The technical focus of the task was on positive and negative shapes and patterns. The children reflected on these principles by working on both white and black paper. As part of the task, they were also introduced to the rules of parallel drawing when designing the shop windows. The finished drawings successfully showcase the children’s understanding of this complex and challenging task.
This week, the children took part in the Big School Bird Watch by learning about common British birds and their calls before heading outside to spot and tally different species. We were delighted to see pigeons, parakeets, robins, herons, blackbirds, crows, and black-headed gulls.
Year 2 were delighted to welcome Gabby aka Miss Fernandez-Ares as our Teacher for the Day, and what a fantastic job she did! Wearing her very own staff lanyard, Miss Fernandez-Ares confidently collected the children at drop-off and got the day off to a great start. She took the register like a pro, read out the spelling and times tables tests and even handled a bit of cheeky behaviour with firm authority. One of the highlights of the day was Gabby proudly announcing Star of the Week — a very important responsibility! After such a busy and successful day, we hope Gabby isn’t too exhausted. Thank you, for being such a brilliant teacher for the day. Mrs Thompson enjoyed her day off!
Eco Club returned to Broomfield House yesterday and we were all about eco friendly new year resolutions.
I have attached a picture of some of the students with their resolutions for the year:
Ellie plans to ride her bike more, to save water and donate her old clothes.
Felix plans to help his dad feed the birds and water the plants.
And Bella is planning to help grow, plants and trees, go litter picking, to donate old clothes to charity and to not waste paper.
The rainbow decorated resolution were made by Pippa in Year 2 I believe.
A few others that we had…
Alana, Melody and Frankie all plan to plant more trees so they can climb more trees. They also wrote a letter to Mr Anstey asking if Eco Club could be given permission to plant flowers in the pond area 😁.
Yawar in Year 5 is also keen to plant more trees in school.
