Report Evenings

The class teachers are looking forward to meeting parents on Monday 1st and Wednesday 3rd December for the Report Evenings. Thank you for booking your time slot on the link sent by the office. We would be grateful to all families for helping the teachers stick to their time slots, avoiding delays for those with later appointments. The sessions are taking place in the relevant classrooms. Please wait outside on the chairs provided before being invited in. The children’s Autumn Term reports will be published on the iSams Parent Portal for Years 1 – 5 and Famly for Early Years on the evening of 28th November. All parents should have access to these portals; please log in before the evening of 28th to ensure you can access the platforms. If you need a password reset, please do this before the 28th November. Please let us know if you have any problems accessing them.   

(Please note Year 5 Report Evenings will take place on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd December)

Celebrating PSHE

We will be highlighting PSHE in our Friday assemblies by celebrating a child in the school with a weekly certificate, similar to art, music and sports for their outstanding contribution to the subject.

Staff News

We are delighted to share some wonderful news with our school community. Our wonderful Head of Key Stage 1, Mrs Carver Williams is expecting her second child, due in the summer term. We are excited for her and her lovely family and we wish them huge congratulations on this fantastic news.

Junior Christmas Plays 

Please see the below timeline for the Junior Christmas Plays:

R3, PK and K parents: Arrive at 8:55am for a 9am performance. Performances due to finish at 9:40am

Y1 and Y2 parents: Arrive at 9:40am for a 10am performance. Performances due to finish at 10:40am.

There will be some mince pies to enjoy at 9:40am for the changeover of our audiences.

A reminder that the dress rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, 3^rd December. On this day, children should come to school dressed in their costumes (please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name). After the rehearsal, they will change into their school uniform, leaving their costumes at school for Thursday’s performance. We kindly ask that you provide a labelled bag for the costume to be packed away.

We will send an email next week with a link to book your tickets. Some parents have requested additional tickets; we have a limited number available so please email your request to the office and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis and based on capacity restrictions.

We are excited to announce that Mrs Kim-Shin (our Broomfield violin teacher) will be starting a small violin group in January 2026. This group is open to children in Year 1.

Following the violin project we launched with children in Kindergarten last year, this is a fantastic opportunity for those children who particularly enjoyed the introduction to violin, to further enhance their musicianship and violin skills by playing in a small string ensemble.

In order for the children to get the most out of these weekly small group rehearsals, it is important to note that there are only 6 spaces available.

The violin group rehearsals will be run in a similar way to a paid-for club and will take place on a Thursday during morning break at 10:20am.

Please note that spaces are secured and confirmed on a first come, first served basis.

Thank you to everyone who attended the PTA meeting on Monday. We will be sending out the minutes shortly.

We also sadly bade farewell to Alana Krone (mum to Kristiaan in Year 6 and Jane in Year 4), who has stepped down as Treasurer. A huge thank you to Alana for everything she has done over the past few years, including the significant achievement of making the Summer Fair and other events cashless, and enabling online payments across many PTA activities.

We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to Daniel Reah (father to Caspian in KG), who joins us as our new Treasurer.

The current PTA Core Team has strong representation from KG and Year 2. If anyone from other year groups would like to join us – in any capacity, big or small – we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Dr Sara Khan, PTA Chair, or Mairi Fernandez-Ares, PTA Secretary.

We are particularly keen to welcome support in:
• Marketing and communications
• The annual Silent Auction
• Summer events, including the 150th Anniversary celebrations

We look forward to welcoming many of you on Thursday evening to our annual Christmas Wreath Making Night — including 11 of our teachers who will be joining us!

The evening will begin at 7.30pm in the School Hall (Princes Road entrance). Please note there will be no bar, as this is a BYO event, so feel free to bring along the tipple of your choice.

We will be providing wreaths (provided by Trindle Stores), materials to decorate them, and cheese/charcuterie boards, also provided by local business, Trindle Stores. If anyone has a glue gun at home they can bring along, please do so! 

We are delighted to share a new collaboration for the PTA — our first partnership with The Kew Society, Kew Sparkle, and local business Trindle.

Together, we are hosting a Christmas Decorations Workshop, where children can paint a decoration that will be displayed on the Kew Plaza Christmas Tree.
This takes place the day after the School Christmas Social, on Sunday 30th November, in the Trindle Tipi, from 2.30–4.30pm.

All local families are warmly welcome during the drop-in session. Children must be supervised throughout, and you’re welcome to bring a painting apron if you wish.

If any parents are able to help with setting up at 2pm or clearing up between 4.30–5pm, please contact the PTA Core Team — your support would be hugely appreciated.

As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to reveal something truly special: our limited edition Broomfield House School PTA Gin, created to mark this milestone year and designed with our school community at its heart.

What began as a simple idea has blossomed into a beautiful keepsake. In fact, when taking on this role, I certainly didn’t imagine that one of our hardest tasks this year would be… designing a gin bottle label! After many versions, plenty of back-and-forth with the PTA core team, and more debate over colours, fonts and seals than any of us expected, we could not be more thrilled with the final result. This bottle is not only a celebration of 150 years of Broomfield House School — it is also a testament to our community spirit.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped shape the design, and in particular to Ben Rivera (Dad to Henry, KG), who has been instrumental in initiating this project and getting it over the finish line, and to Rowen and the team at Why Media, who generously provided brilliant final creative input and supported us through many last-minute changes. Their professionalism, speed and creative flair lifted the design to exactly where we hoped it would be- we are so grateful.
