Exploring Art and Spanish in Kew Gardens

Posted: 28th October 2022

Year 4 enjoyed an adventure in Kew Gardens just before half term to learn about Janal Pixan: Food for the Souls, a Mexican family celebration dedicated to each family’s ancestors. The class took in the Spanish language associated with this festival, expanding their vocabulary and generating cultural curiosity.  They took photographs of the amazing decorations which they will work on in their Computing lessons back in school.

It’s such a joy to have the natural beauty of Kew on our doorstep and even more special when we can take a step into another part of the world through the wonderful exhibitions which Kew brings to London.  The iconic Temperate House has been transformed with artworks and horticulture which celebrate Mexico.
