When to start school

Broomfield is a vibrant community of families, reflecting the cosmopolitan nature of London. We welcome both local families and those from all over the world. We know it can be a challenge to work out which year your child should join us, either at our first point of entry in our Pre-Kindergarten (Nursery) class or at a later stage. So, our Year of Entry Calculator is designed to help.

Please enter your child’s birth date into the calculator below to find out which year your child should join Broomfield.

Children joining the Pre-Kindergarten class start in the September after their third birthday while those joining Kindergarten (Reception) come in the following year, in the September after their fourth birthday. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten are our Early Years classes.

If you are looking for a place in any year group above the Early Years, the table below will show which class your child should enter in each calendar year.
