Andrew Clover, author of the Rory Branagan detective series, gave an electrifying and very energetic assembly to Years 1 – 5, making them gasp and squeal with excitement – not least when he leapt onto the windowsill and pretended to lay an egg on Mrs Bou’s head!! He showed the children how to fill their stories with anticipation and humour, and his visit will be remembered for a long time. Our staff are put on their mettle to bring similar flair to future assemblies, as one of the children was overheard saying it had been, “the best assembly EVER!”
Each of his workshop sessions with Years 1-5 brought out additional gems and we are grateful to our PTA for their kind support of this Arts Fund event. These Meet the Author sessions bring stories and reading to the forefront of our minds and encourage the children in their love of literary adventures and enthusiasm for creating their own exciting tales of derring-do.
