Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten

In Broomfield Early Years, our goal is to lay the foundations for a happy childhood, a fulfilling future, and an enduring love of learning. Our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our range of pedagogical approaches including Montessori, Forest School and child led learning, encompass our play-based curriculum.

Studies have found that children who experience play-based learning environments are more likely to be academically successful and exhibit stronger problem-solving skills later in life. Early play experiences are also linked to better emotional regulation and resilience in adulthood. Our strategies for teaching and learning are always evolving with best practice research, to meet the needs and learning styles of the youngest children.

A happy childhood, a fulfilling future

Our highly skilled practitioners create calm, engaging and fun learning environments, where all children feel safe and valued. Our high staff ratios ensure all children are supported and challenged to achieve their best possible outcomes.

We actively encourage strong partnerships, working closely with parents. Our door is always open and parents are very welcome in our classrooms. We share your child’s learning adventures, experiences and ‘wow’ moments through regular posts and observations via our online system, Famly. We also encourage parents to come in to lead story sessions and share your cultural celebrations and traditions.

Laying the groundwork for lifelong success

90% of a child’s brain develops by age five. During this time, rich learning experiences shape brain architecture and therefore we strive to lay the groundwork for lifelong success, both academically and emotionally. We endeavour for our children to become independent and inquisitive learners, articulate and confident communicators and build strong, healthy friendships.

When the time comes for children to move into Year 1, we work closely with our Key Stage 1 colleagues to support our Kindergarten children with a successful and happy transition to the next stage of their learning!
