Pre-Kindergarten
Our main entry point is our nursery class in September after a child’s third birthday. Offers are made in the autumn term prior to the year of entry. We give priority to younger siblings, children of former pupils and staff and to children attending Dukes Education nursery schools. Children must be registered to receive an offer. Any children joining the Pre-Kindergarten class will automatically progress into our Kindergarten (Reception) class in the following September.
Rising 3s
We are pleased to announce an additional entry point: children can now join as Rising 3s in the term when they turn 3 years old, offering parents the option to start their child’s journey at Broomfield even earlier. This new provision gives families flexible access to our nurturing environment ahead of Pre‑Kindergarten. Research from both independent and state schools shows that ‘Rising 3s’ settings help young learners adapt more smoothly to school routines while building early friendships within their future cohort. By offering this option, Broomfield empowers children to develop confidence, social skills, and a love of learning in a familiar, supportive setting—making the transition into Pre‑Kindergarten as seamless as possible. Spaces for Rising 3s will be allocated based on availability, sibling priority, and the timing of registration. We encourage parents to apply early and get in touch to explore how this early entry can benefit your child’s development and school readiness. Find out more about Rising 3s here >>
Early Years at Broomfield House School
Our Early Years Learning Environment is designed to nurture every aspect of young development through thoughtfully crafted indoor and outdoor spaces. Our classrooms function as vibrant hubs overflowing with natural materials, open-ended resources, and flexible layouts that inspire curiosity, creativity, and self-expression. Beyond the classroom, our outdoor areas—featuring loose parts, planting zones and sheltered nooks—encourage children to climb, dig, build, observe, and explore freely. Extensive research affirms that such natural environments offer richer sensory engagement and promote cognitive skills like problem-solving.
Our educators serve as responsive co-learners, attentively observing children’s interests, facilitating exploration, and stepping in only to scaffold learning or ensure safety. They understand that allowing children the autonomy to take moderate risks—such as balancing on logs or investigating natural elements—is essential for developing agency, spatial awareness, and emotional regulation. The interplay between rich indoor learning and immersive outdoor experiences is what makes Broomfield truly special.
Occasional Places
We maintain a waiting list for children seeking admission into all other year groups, either at the start of an academic year or during the year, depending on availability. Places are offered when they become available, irrespective of term timing, accommodating families new to the area or seeking mid-year entry.
School Starting Age
We follow statutory guidance which typically expects children to start reception in the September following their fourth birthday.
