Foundations for the Future

In their first five years, a child’s brain develops faster than at any other time in their life, and by age five, 90% of a child’s brain is developed. We understand that in those important years, every interaction, every song, every smile, matters. A recent study by The Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University emphasised that the environments where young children live, grow, play, and learn all influence a child’s health and development, having a lasting impact. This is a driving force for ongoing excellence for our Early Years provision at Broomfield, getting it right from the very beginning.

Our large team of qualified practitioners has a plethora of experience within the early years sector. Their wealth of expertise on child development, alongside an eagerness to continually develop their knowledge and skills, ensures high-quality interactions in our classrooms. Adding to all the awe and wonder of hands-on learning is the care and attention given to each child. We are always close by to support, comfort and nurture, ensuring children thrive in a space where they feel safe and valued.

Our play-based environment and curriculum are tailored to meet the developing needs and interests of the children. Themes are designed to spark curiosity, adapting based on what captivates children’s attention. From a book about the different levels of the ocean igniting a sense of wonder about underwater volcanoes, to a truly fascinating child-led ‘show and tell’ presentation about germs and bacteria after exploring minibeasts—each experience kindles a thirst to find out more.

At Broomfield, we place every child at the heart of what we do. It is not only about teaching facts or ticking boxes; it is about developing confidence, resilience, and a genuine love of learning. We listen to our children, encourage them to ask questions, and help them explore answers through meaningful experiences.

From our vibrant indoor classrooms to our expansive outdoor spaces, children are free to explore, play, and grow – supported by adults who are deeply invested in their wellbeing and learning journey. It is here that the foundations are laid not just for academic achievement, but for a lifelong sense of curiosity and self-belief.

Parents are welcomed as key partners in their children’s development. We maintain open and ongoing communication, sharing moments of joy, progress, and celebration.

In addition, we actively encourage children to develop independence and decision-making skills from an early age. From choosing their own activities to voicing ideas during group discussions, they learn to trust their instincts and feel a sense of agency over their own learning. This autonomy lays the groundwork for strong self-esteem and emotional resilience.

Our Early Years classrooms are places where imaginations are sparked, friendships flourish, and each child is encouraged to be exactly who they are.

We have some exciting news to share! 🎉

Due to growing parent interest, we are introducing an earlier opportunity to join us with the launch of our dedicated Rising 3s provision.

This carefully considered addition reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of local families, while maintaining the exceptional standards Broomfield is known for.
