We are delighted to announce that Broomfield House School has been shortlisted for the Small Independent School of the Year Award!
Why have we been nominated?
A Mosaic of Community
At the heart of our playground stands a breathtaking mosaic mural, crafted collaboratively by every child under the guidance of our art teacher, Mrs. Frey. Each tile represents the child’s unique creativity, yet together they form a powerful symbol of unity, illustrating the community spirit that defines life at Broomfield.
Boutique Prep
As a boutique preparatory school, Broomfield offers a nurturing and welcoming environment where every child is known individually. This intimate setting allows learners to thrive both academically and personally, with tailored support and attention.
Sustainability Rooted in Practice
Situated near Kew Gardens—one of the most biodiverse places on Earth—we weave sustainability into our ethos. From Forest School programmes to our Eco Schools Green Flag status and planting one tree in the Scottish Highlands for each new pupil, we nurture environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility in our children.
Outstanding Achievement and Wellbeing
Our Year Six cohort of 24 pupils received a remarkable 105 secondary school offers and 11 scholarships through the 11+ process, with 97 percent of placements accurately predicted by our dedicated team. Emotional resilience is at the core of our pastoral approach: tools like “Homesick Hearts,” the “Wheel of Wonder,” and Polaroid “Celebration Snapshots” support our youngest learners to feel secure, valued, and confident.
Hands-on Learning
From bushcraft and marshmallow-toasting at Forest School to entrepreneurial projects like the Year Four Elderflower Stall and acts of kindness through our Year Six Harvest Festival, our pupils gain practical life skills.
Tailored Learning Through the ILE Programme
Our Individual Learning Enhancement programme meets each child’s emotional and academic needs with termly reviews and bespoke strategies, ensuring every pupil is supported and empowered to succeed.
Being shortlisted is profound validation of our vision: a school where kindness, creativity, confidence, and resilience flourish alongside academic excellence—shaping children into conscientious citizens ready for the future.
We would like to congratulate all shortlisted schools and extend our gratitude to our dedicated pupils, staff, parents, and broader community. Finalists will be announced on Tuesday 9 September, with winners revealed at the awards ceremony in October—further recognition of small schools making big differences.
Stay tuned for final results!
