Learning about Chinese New Year

Posted: 21st January 2020

The Year of the Rat is upon us and to celebrate Pre-Kindergarten have been enjoying a wide range of Chinese activities, from making dragons, window banners and colourful red envelopes.  We were delighted to welcome Mr Hu and Mrs Gao, who taught the class to make dumplings, rolling the dough, adding different fillings, folding them over and packing them up with the cooking instructions.  They taught us a Chinese New Year song and finished by telling both Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten the traditional Chinese tale, The Great Race, about how the zodiac animals came to be chosen.  We tried some delicious noodles, learning how to be handy with chopsticks.  It was a lovely way to learn about Chinese culture ready for Chinese New Year this weekend.
