Harvest Hampers

Year 5 sing scaled 1

Broomfield loves to celebrate the wonder of the harvest and this year was no exception.  Each class, from the littlest children to the biggest, brought their own unique take on the subject as we came together over autumnal poetry and fruitful songs.  Three choirs and our orchestra performed, making this a magical treat for the ears.  These musical delights, together with funny, heartfelt and joyous recitals of new and old poems combined to build a festive event, enjoyed by the whole school alongside our Year 6 families who came along for the ride.

The stage was set with fabulous still life artworks created by Year 4 and surreal portraits from Year 5, inspired by Italian artist, Giuseppe Archimboldo, who represented faces using fruit and vegetables, a perfect fit for Harvest.

The celebrations continued as Year 6 set off bearing harvest hampers to bless some of our older and housebound neighbours in Kew.  Over 50 boxes of foodie treats, each accompanied by a hand drawn gift card, were delivered and we are grateful to the Kew Neighbourhood Association for their support in identifying who would welcome a gourmet gift.  Already we are receiving some charming thank you cards.  It is so lovely to lead activities that build community and kindness in our area.
