Senior Sports Day

Posted: 5th July 2021

On Wednesday 23rd June, Broomfield House School had their Senior Sports Day.  It was a close competition and everyone was amazing.  At the beginning everyone was thrilled to start the field events.  Records were broken in Standing Long Jump by Ivie (Year 6 – Palmer House) and Olivier (Year 5- Mead House) in addition to new records in the Discus Event achieved by Sienna (Year 6 – Mead) and Jonathan (Year 6 – Rose).  After the field events, the scores were close and everyone was buzzing and couldn’t wait to start the track events.

Year 2 were up first and they were doing hurdles.  Everyone was cheering and being very supportive and motivating in true Broomfield spirit!  Everyone did the hurdles and were so amazing.  The 60 m spring was next and Year 2 started us off again and they ran like the wind.  Year 6 finished off the 60 m sprint event, we went to the starting line and all did brilliantly as everyone crossed the finish line.  The 400 m race followed, the hardest race by far to qualify for as only 6 from each class took part.  Everyone was exhausted from the fabulous running they had done.

The final races were the relays.  First up were the boys, who ran really fast and achieved amazing times.  However, in the end, Mead won the boys’ relay.  Next up was the girls’ relay: they were all fantastic  and sprinted so fast with Mead winning again.  The final relay was for Years 5 and 6 with 2 girls and 2 boys from each house from each year group, and again Mead were the winners!

The final results were very close but Mead just took the Sports Day Shield, with Palmer close behind and Rose in third place.  The support from each House was amazing as everyone was running.

As a bonus at the end, the teachers raced a 60 metre sprint with Ben (Brentford Coach) striding into first place and Lucasz at his heels in 2nd place.   All the teachers did really well!  All three Houses were amazing and a huge congratulations to all of them!
