Spring Term saw Year 3 and Year 4 performing poetry and story recitals that we thought would have to happen virtually. Luckily, we were back in school to bring the recitals to the stage! Year 3 were inspired by Greek Mythology, featuring The Greek Gods’ Poem, The Battle of Zeus, Hera and Io, The Tragedy of Daedalus and Icarus and The Competition of Athena and Poseidon. This was a big step-up for Year 3, with more lines to learn in smaller groups, as well as remembering their entrances and exits, musical cues and responsibility for their own costumes and props. The children performed brilliantly, learning their lines in record time, and wearing Greek God costumes with style!
Year 4 brought Indian Poetry to life, with topics such as India’s religions, foods, seasons and famous stories, a real celebration of Indian culture! The children loved dressing in bright colours and had fun working with different props, particularly umbrellas! It was wonderful to see them perform with confidence and, more importantly, big smiles and lots of laughter.
Both year groups only had a couple of weeks to create and film their pieces, giving us a great show!
