Four Year 5 maths whizzes battled it out against the top mathematicians from 20 other primary schools to take first prize in Hampton School’s annual Maths Wizard problem-solving competition on Monday 07 October.
Arjan, Hannah, Jonathan and Leina used their numeracy, logic and reasoning, collaborative and creative skills to solve a wide variety of challenging maths problems in a demanding three-hour afternoon session held at Hampton School. “I was so proud of them, said Broomfield’s senior maths teacher Ms Balogh. “They worked so well as a team on some extremely hard maths problems and never gave up. They really enjoyed tackling the challenges which is what we seek to achieve with all our pupils at Broomfield.”
