PTA Parents Association

Broomfield House School’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in fostering a strong sense of community and enhancing the educational experience for all pupils. The PTA is dedicated to forming a bridge between parents and the school, organising social events for families, and raising funds to support various initiatives that benefit the children.

PTA Structure and Meetings

The PTA Committee comprises the Head, teachers, and elected parent representatives from each class. Key officer roles, including Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, are appointed at the first committee meeting. Committee meetings occur once every half-term, and all parents are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they serve as class representatives.

Class representatives act as liaisons between parents and teachers, playing a crucial role in maintaining effective communication and fostering a supportive school community. Their responsibilities encompass distributing class lists, organising class parties and coffee mornings, assisting at PTA events, and representing their class at PTA meetings. Additionally, they often support school activities such as photo days and class trips.

Volunteering and Community Engagement

Volunteering with the PTA offers parents an opportunity to become more involved in the school community, build connections with staff and other families, and make a positive impact on the children’s school experience. The PTA welcomes new volunteers and fresh ideas, valuing the diverse skills and perspectives that parents bring. Whether assisting with event organisation, supporting fundraising efforts, or participating in school activities, every contribution is appreciated and helps strengthen the Broomfield community.

Engaging with the PTA is a rewarding way to support Broomfield House School and ensure that it continues to be a nurturing and dynamic environment for all pupils.

Secondhand Uniform

The PTA operates a second-hand uniform store, offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution for families. All items are generously donated by parents, with proceeds from sales supporting the PTA’s fundraising activities.

To purchase items, parents can email their requests to PTAuniform@broomfieldhouse.com. The team will prepare the items and arrange for collection at the school office. Alternatively, parents may schedule an appointment to view items on-site after drop-off on Fridays. If any purchased items are unsuitable, parents are encouraged to inform the team and return them to the office.

This initiative not only provides affordable uniform options but also promotes sustainability by reusing quality items. It exemplifies the school’s commitment to community and environmental responsibility.

Fundraising and Social Events

The PTA organises a number of fundraising and social events throughout the year. These include the themed Summer Fair, an exciting Christmas Market, a very popular annual parents’ social, a quiz night and the second-hand uniform sale.  Every parent is encouraged to join in and support their Class Reps in running stalls and activities as part of the fundraising endeavour.

The funds raised by the PTA finance visiting authors, speakers, musicians, theatre groups and specialist Maths, Literacy and Science days. The PTA has also helped to fund, amongst many other things, playground awnings to enable all-weather-play, sports kits, African drums, games and dressing up items, library books and playground equipment.

It is a great way to get to know the staff and other parents throughout the school and ultimately benefit your children. We are always grateful for new volunteers and fresh ideas so please do get involved.
