Whole School

Supervision

We’d like to gently remind all parents and carers that children remain in your care until the school bell rings and they head into the building. Please make sure your child is supervised before and after school.

While on the playground at the start and end of the day, we ask that children follow the same behaviour expectations they do during school hours – being kind, gentle, and respectful towards others.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our school environment safe, positive, and welcoming for everyone.

Highlights

Pupil Experience

Year 1 completed their first ever Gold Star Project, this is a first for KS1 at Broomfield! The cross-curricular history, science and geography project had the children designing and creating a mode of transport using recyclable materials. Every child exceeded expectations and presented their work with the utmost pride and positivity. They demonstrated confidence and spoke with eloquence about the project itself, the initial design elements, the purposefully chosen materials and the entire process. We are so proud of each and everyone of them.

A special mention to Dylan, Georgina, Zane and Bo who achieved a gold star for going the extra mile!

Beyond World Book Day

A special mention to Bo in Year 1 for representing Broomfield and reaching the semi-final at Dukes House in the Beyond World Book Day competition last month.

Her pop up book perfectly portrays a ‘Day in the Life’ at Broomfield and we are all extremely proud of her hard work, creativity and final design!

Eco Club

This week in Eco Club, we turned our attention to frogs in celebration of National Frog Day on Wednesday. Although these often slimy-looking creatures might not be everyone’s favourite, they play a vital role in many ecosystems. With more than 8,000 species of frogs and toads worldwide, it’s worrying that many are now in decline due to habitat loss, pollution and climate change. Frogs can be found across the globe, even in parts of the Arctic Circle!

We also learned some fascinating frog facts:
  • Frogs do not drink water but absorb it through their skin.
  • A group of frogs is called an army.
  • They lived alongside the dinosaurs.
  • When frogs swallow their food, they pull their eyes down into the roof of their mouth to push the food down their throat.
  • Due to their permeable skin, they can easily absorb toxic chemicals and are therefore considered good indicators of environmental stresses such as pollution.
